:( Sad news today, film composer and Oscar winner James Horner, has been killed in a tragic plane crash.

When I saw the news feed on my wall about less than a hour ago, my jaw dropped to the floor. Stunned and I just don't believe it.

I have enjoyed as much millions more listening to James Horner, scores over the some +30 years that he has left for us to all still enjoy and admire the man that inspires others to become musicians.

From STAR TREK II and III to ALIENS, Cocoon to Willow to APOLLO 13, Braveheart to his Oscar winning TITANIC to Avatar and many more.

RIP James Horner :(

Such an exciting and uplifting score the launch track from APOLLO 13 (1995)

James Horner scoring control give me a go, no go for score. Voila Violins Bass Trumpets Bassoon Scoring control we're go for launch.

RIP James Horner. God speed.

The spirit of scoring with LSO and choir voices gives this a tearful score.

Another exciting bit of scoring from James Horner for STAR TREK III, thumps out some bass mid to lows with the strings and horns blaring as the James Horner, scores the last voyage for the USS Enterprise.

Warp Speed, James Horner. :)

James Horner, scores U.S.S. Enterprise with just minutes before she and her entire crew are blown to bits! The score is just magnificently done

This is very sad news indeed. Ironically I just watched Avatar with the family last night. A great composer has been lost but his work is timeless and will NOT be forgotten.

Like all great musicians James Horner, works of scores will forever be immortalized.

Watching APOLLO 13 on THX laserdisc dts launch scene over and over. The score was intensfing with coolness of sound effects/sound on that film.

I don't own many movie soundtracks, but I own more James Horner than anyone else: Apollo 13, Braveheart, Titanic. I listen to Apollo 13 every few months (love the way the movie begins with a drum and bugle core type fanfare).

Yeah opening strikes the right cord for the film with solo trumpet and again on the end credits like saying an end to the Apollo space program era.
