Yes Tuscan lasagna (a very regional dish) is authentically made using bechamel. And what we call gravy here is not really from Italy, that came from the Italian neighborhoods around the turn of the century, you know, the traditional Sunday gravy, another Italo-American invention, I love it and make it as much as I can. The only decent Italian restaurant we have down here is Grazziano's on Giralda Ave in downtown Coral Gables. It belongs to former boxing champ Mark Randazzo and his menu is straight from his grandma's Chicago kitchen, excellent fare, the meatballs, out of this world. Ok, I'm getting hungry!:D
YES! We have some very good cooks amongst us AH'ers. S-man....I gotta have your gravy and your lasagna recipe. Yes?

Bechamel...Mmmmm *drool*. If Tomorrow gets it, can I too :D?

The best sandwhich I have ever had in my life had a bechamel sauce on it so just a quality sauce recipe would allow me to recreate it :).

3 basic ingredients to a good bechamel (also known as a roux)- butter, flour, milk. You will find a variety of recipes that a bit of onion, garlic, salt, black and white pepper, among other things- but all you need are those 3 ingredients. Two very important things are that you MUST keep stirring to make sure the flour doesn't burn (and turn brown) and that you add the milk SLOWLY. I would look up bechamel/roux on epicurious.

If anybody wants a non-bechamel lasagna, I have a fantastic recipe for a Turkey Sausage and Spinach Lasagna with a Spicy Tomato Sauce.

Okay I'm in. Maybe we should kindly ask the admins to create a "Recipes" section in this forum - it seems as if we have as many food addicts as we do HT addicts. :D

I've been hungry for the last ten posts of this thread.
