Is this a good deal - 3 12" Sunfire true subwoofer Jrs

I've got a guy here locally willing to split ways with 3 subs - the sunfire true sub Jr in the 12s. Looks like they were about $1k new. He wants $900 for all three of them. Anyone know if these are worth a spit and if they are very musical?

From what I can tell, there was the Sunfire Junior which utilized a 7" driver + 7" passive radiator, and a Super Junior which bumped it up to an 8" driver plus 8" passive. Both were fed by a 1,500W RMS amp, and extremely compact.

Are they worth a spit? Depends. If you require the ultra-compact size...maybe. Even then, I'd be leery of the amp replacement costs. If you can accommodate a larger subwoofer, I know Hsu still notes that one reviewer found that their entry level STF-1 ($309+shipping) compared favorably with the Super Junior. Such small size practically dictates abysmal deep bass performance unfortunately. For ~$900, I'd look to something like a pair of SVS PB-1000's ($949 shipped). If you're willing to do a single sub at $900 and consider another such sub later, that opens things up quite a bit.

I've heard good things about the HSU - I've got two SVS pb12-plus/2 -- they are awesome, but massive. I think my pricing is abit unclear....its $300 each and he's got 3 of them - so $900 total. I guess if the HSU is comparable and $300 new -- looks like I could use my money better there...

I heard the new sunfire dual 12" subs {tiny sub with almost 3000watts} and they sounded good with a lot of output, for a 13" sq its hard to get that kind of low output.. 3 used subs in good working condition {the old jr's} would be worth $750 or so, if they are in pristine condition with original packaging and very little use, then maybe $900 but its a stretch...

thanks for the thoughts...was looking around and was thinking one new power sound XS15se would be maybe a better use of those funds....
