Is there a benefit of having a big ported sub in a small room?

I an currently debating between getting a svs sb 1000 pro sealed sub or a ported svs 2000 sub. My room is a small 4.5x3meter, i will use it only for gaming at rather low/moderate listening levels because of neighbours. Both subs cost the same here. I do Care about low end extension/rumble, control and a general feeling of ,,might“ behind the sound.

Would there be a benefit in that regard of getting the bigger ported 2000 sub over the smaller sealed 1000pro or wouldn’t it matter anyway since my room is small and I listen at rather moderate levels?

I appreciate any insight!

Speakers need to match the room and it's possible to use speakers that are too large.

If you aren't looking for high SPL, then I can't say it would be justified. The room isn't too square, so I don't think you will have major cancellation, but you won't get the rumble at the bottom with a sealed sub.

I would agree with that too though. Then if you change rooms/move, an upgrade is not the first thing you have to do. You can always dial it down for now.

The PB2000 Pro is much more powerful. If you want subsonic bass, that is the way to go. The SB-1000 can only really hint at very deep bass, but the PB-2000 Pro can produce it in spades.

For what it's worth, don't think of the PB 2000 and bigger... think of it as, perhaps, just right.

Too big would be something like a Dual 21 or 24" Sub!

For the same cost I'd definitely go for the PB2000, may not need it's capabilities now, but....

Agree with the larger sub. With the SVS app you can control the volume and other settings even from track to track if needed From your listening seat. If you’ve got the space, go big.

Another one for the pb2k. If it costs the same, then it seems like it’s a future proof(yes I think it’s actually a unicorn)plan.

right now i could get the svs sb2000PRO for the same as the pb2000 NON pro. do yous think the pb would still be better peromance wise for my needs? if they perform pretty much the same at my room i would rather take the smaller one.

Well part of it will come down to content. Video games, movies and some music styles will definitely benefit from ported. In a small room at moderate levels, they’ll probably be more similar than different. Is this room on concrete? Or suspended floor? That will also make a difference. My gut says you’ll probably be just as happy with the smaller sealed one, although for my use it wouldn’t even be a consideration.

Still vote for 2000. It can be dialed down. Can’t do anything for 1000 if it comes up short.

Hard to know how you value the compromises between the two....if size is a really big need then the sealed will still do great at least for now in your current setup.....

Definitely get the Pro model whichever one you decide to go with. It has the app which makes it easy to control from your phone or tablet.

i will use it mainly for video games, connected to a denopn x3800h. i do care about low end extension and rumble. my room is concrete floor with concrete walls, except one, which is wood.

size is only a consideration for me if the performance in my room would be almost identical.

Ported, easy. Concrete eats bass, so the output and efficiency will be much better.
