Is the Forum Busted?

... or just undergoing some fixes?
The forum is being pounded by spammers again. Others have commented that you may need to log off and login again to correct posting errors. I use Firefox and had to log back in again to pass the Cloudflare security check and be able to post messages.

I’ve had to do this repeatedly. A little too much so.

In fact I just had to do it again to post this.

Thanks for that. I was trying to do clean up and kept getting errors. Logging out and back in fixed it and I was able to dump all the spam posts.

Thanks for that. I was wondering why I couldn't post.

Likely a bot filter but the SPAM bots seemed to have found a way around it again. Having to log out and back in multiple times is getting to be a pain though. o_O

I wonder if there is a possibility of adding a simple arithmetic question that would defeat bots.

These are large scale bot attacks, I suspect largely from China. That is probably my least favorite part of the world, and I regard the whole outfit as as a curse on humanity and go out of my way as far as I can to avoid anything that originates from there. The forum has cut out posts with Chinese IP addresses for some time and this helped for a while. Now the scoundrels have VPNs all over the world, and so their spam can come in from any part of the globe. I understand their nasty bots are now smart enough to solve even difficult CPATCHA puzzles. Not sure there is an easy solution, or any way to solve this, apart from onerous registration and login requirements. What is worse, I understand these Chinese criminals can mine the forum data as a route to collect our personal data.

I would be in favor of putting 100% tariffs, or higher on anything originating from China. Do not buy Chinese goods. You can by better made products from other sources.

"Code" seems t be in subject line in almost all of the spam messages. Perhaps banning that in subject lines might reduce a good bunch of it? Not case sensitive.

I have someone working on Xenforo upgrade to stop these spam attacks. Pray for us :)
What a disgrace that anyone would want to do something like this attack. It is pure evil perversion as they could not obtain any benefit from such attacks. Really nasty evil people and we all know on which part of the globe they reside. All members just stop buying their junk.

Praying won't help a bit but you might close the Audioholics website for new users to register during an attack so that the existing users can continue posting without issues. Hopefully you keep a list of all banned users responsible for attacks. Once a new Xenforo upgrade is installed, re-open the website for new users.

So, far so good this morning. A mighty thank you to all involved in dealing with this massive denial of service attack from China.

These "Cloud Flare Denial of service attacks are done and orchestrated by the Chinese government from the highest level. They also hire private hackers. These are orchestrated by the Chinese Ministry of State Security and the Chinese army via the "Peoples Liberation Wing."

China IS our ENEMY and a very dangerous one. We should not be doing business with them. NONE OF US. The fact that the likes of Perlisten and many other brands are embedded with this enemy is a disgrace. Work hard to avoid buying Chinese goods. The Chinese are 100% responsible for this trauma we have experienced this last week.

Gene thank for for your efforts and dogged persistence in dealing with this foul outrage this week.
