How much attention did Obama pay to infrastructure? Not very damned much and the cost would have been much lower when he was in office. The tax increases will definitely be painful but, well, with so many hating people who have more, who cares, right? The income levels that will be affected are dipping farther and farther into the middle class, albeit upper middle class, but it's not just the $1million+ earners who are going to be hit.

Everyone wants to blame the last guy, but at some point, people need to see the long view and admit that neither side has done what they should and that falls directly on the head of Congress, not just a POTUS. While Congress has been wagging their collective finger in our faces, they have done far too much harm to the country and now, they're spending like drunken sailors on shore leave for the first time in ten years.

The problem isn't handouts during Covid. It is the amount of the handouts. I'm not a fan of changing the filibuster as that would give too much power with a simple 51%. Nor do I have a problem with in particular repubs blocking stuff that is wasteful spending. I'm also not sold on giving up the electoral for popular. I'm wondering if that won't make it a less state-driven race. Voter confidence? Pretty iffy.

Biden is acting as if everything needs to be done as soon as possible, at any cost and every effing time someone is added, moved or appointed to a position, it's called 'historic' because it makes people feel good, amazes and thrills them. He & Congress need to GET THE JOB DONE BUT CUT OUT THE BULLSHYTE!

Obviously, no President can get much done if they don't have a willing Congress, but this time, the House is using 'reconciliation' to change the game. That's dangerous. They need to adhere to Article 1 of the Constitution and they aren't.

The vote was largely based on voting against Trump and a lot of conservatives swung in that direction. A lot did vote against Trump. He really dropped the ball on Covid. Total clusterf$ck then he screwed the Senate with his disastrous fake election and gaslighting the capital.

I think 2022 and 2024 will tell us a lot more where things really stand.

Although if Trump runs again the party stays divided and Democrats have a huge advantage

But as mentioned above they are pushing a LOT of spending and pushing a lot of new ideas very fast and very hard so that puts out intangibles that make it a little harder to predict how people will react in the long term

Well the Vice President is the decider on a 50/50 split. The President then signs the bill. My point is reconciliation is useful to you when you agree with it but complain about it when not. Add in Trump losing everything and it's kinda like crying over your own spilled milk.

The amount of work needed to get this country up to speed WRT some technologies, roads/bridges, etc could have been spread out over a couple of decades and it would have cost far less but now, with so many people needing extensive training for simple jobs, that will cost many times what it should. Sure, SOME people can be re-trained, but that assumes they have any work skills in the first place. Right now, people don't want to work unless they have already been working through COVID- the Milwaukee Buck have found that with the need for people to work during the playoffs and they can't find people in Milwaukee who either can or are willing, so they're busing people in from other states. Also, people now think that because they work fast food jobs, they should automatically make $15/hr but they don't know that many skilled jobs don't pay much more than that. However, that shows the fact that many skilled jobs don't pay enough.

The cost of living in the US has risen too far, too fast and it has become almost impossible for many people to keep up, so that leads us to roughly half of the adults not paying ANY income tax. People skewered Romney for saying it, but his only mistake WRT his election campaign was in actually letting someone record it because it was true (he actually said 47%). We have people dropping out of school, chronic truancy, bad reading/math/science performance and Congress lets someone push Common Core through when the previously-used math teaching was effective and a helluva lot more efficient. This country has serious problems and it's more apparent in people who were born here, who say "I can't", when people who come here for opportunities that would never be theirs come and think "Look at all of the possibilities!".

Obama didn't get it done, Bush didn't get it done, Congress (both sides of the aisle) didn't get it done and this is a disgrace. They want to tell us how it will be, but the general public has forgotten that our government is supposed to work for us and operate with our permission, not the other way around. That's the reason I mentioned Article 1.
