Hello to all-My wife & I have an 8 year old son who loves the book on tape/CD format & we're wondering what digital device would be the best for him.
We've been using books on CD but for travel purposes a CD-less software would seem to be the better way to go.

iPod offers the convenience of listening to audiobooks without having to keep swapping out CDs. I have several audiobooks on my iPod---they take up relatively little space since you can use a lower (bpm) quality setting for spoken words compared with music.
