The sound splinter owner was selling to 8" drivers for 150 + shipping the other day. I suggest you contact him. Those would be great for your needs. These are no ordinary 8" drivers. A pair of those could really get things going. Of course you can always get his bigger drivers too.

Really, the SS 8" drivers are a poor choice for the OP's application.

If the OP insists on conventional sub design - I recommend the AE AV15x 15" drivers. These drivers have higher efficiency than normal drivers, but yet have robust motors. These will be better for his purposes if he insists on conventional subs. AE also has even higher efficiency drivers suited to pro applications - but these will give up some LF extension in exchange for the efficiency unless you use monstrous size cabinets.
