In the meantime, I'm stuck here listening to my TV's internal speakers.
Dave, this could end up taking quite a while.

See if your dealer would be so kind to give you a loaner. How about an open-box Onkyo 705 or something. Anything. Yammy 663 perhaps.

I could put my Denon back in the living room but I don't want to get into tearing up the system and rewiring the rack for a temporary fix. It's kind of a pain to do at this point.

My dealer told me Integra was going to do a straight up swap of my processor for a new one. So far, it's been over three weeks since I took mine in and not a word from Integra. I talked to my dealer and he can't tell me anything new.

That just blows. There's nothing I despise more than paying my good hard earned money on something only to be submarined. It's like ordering something, waiting the week for it, calling the company to find out where it is only to find out it's been backordered.

I'm sure in the end, they'll do what's right and you'll be happy and you'll find that it's all been worth it. Hang in there!

I noticed the bold type in your sig after reading the above quote and thinking that even if I could afford one, I wouldn't get one. You may be a regular guy on your block and in your neighborhood but to a whole mess of potential Integra buyers you get to be something completely different. I don't understand why Integra doesn't make this right, right now. Wouldn't it be better to have you jumping for joy about your most excellent experience instead of reporting about this waiting game that makes me think they don't give a $h!t?

I'm almost glad that I can't afford one ...

I heard from my dealer today. He said that there are no 9.8's in the country at this time to replace my unit. There are a couple scheduled to be imported soon and he will try to get one of those units for me. It will be at least a couple more weeks until I see a replacement. He also suggested that I could upgrade to a 9.9 for a couple hundred extra dollars but I told him that the 9.9 had no extra features I could use to justify the extra cost. So here I sit, still listening to my TV's speakers. What a waste!!! I should have bought something good from a company that gives a crap.

I'm very sorry, Dave. Perhaps you've already mulled over what the 9.9 does offer, but I don't think the 9.8 has Audyssey Dynamic EQ + Volume, does it?

The consumer reviews on this tech is very glowing, from what I've read. If you listen to stuff considerably below reference, its supposed to work wonders, and leaves other half baked solutions like DRC/Night Mode in the dust. Especially for dialogue. FWIW, for I know that there are persons who would easily pay $200 for this, and even claim that they will never be able to live without it.

Cheers.

I went over my dealer's head and called Integra support. Basically, I got the same story. It will be at least another two, possibly three weeks before I get a replacement. At that point, it will be two months without a processor. Sorry for the whine-fest. It's just that this is getting old. They could have just given me a 9.9 a month ago and still had a happy customer instead of one P.O'd hobbyist.

Your dealer should be taking better care of you Dave. Did he offer to take the hit for you or at least give you a loaner?

Nobody's offered me squat. That's why I called Integra directly, to try and expedite some resolution but nobody there is interested either. There is no concern whatsoever that their product failed and their customer is out of business for months as a result of their failure. I genuinely mean that they just don't care. There's no interest or concern on their part other than doing the bare minimum under the warranty.

Kinda makes me glad I'm waiting for the Emotiva processor.
I've been waiting for the Emotiva processor since they announced it. I got the Integra because Emotiva just can't seem to bring the product to market. I just wish that I had known that Integra wasn't a reliable company company selling a quality product.

Gosh, Dave, sorry to hear of your woes. I came inches away from buying one. I hope it works out. For what it's worth I bought a yamaha 663 and wasn't thrilled with it........I'm going back to my twelve year old (7.1 analog out modded) Lexicon DC-1. The thing is a rock, been shipped all over the US, works like a champ, and is so clean and simple to use.....

Unfortunately we know now!

When I was looking to replace my receiver I gave serious thought to getting a Onyko. I did the usual research but I found that the AVS forum has an abundance of information in their owners threads and that certainly help me make a decision. I recall reading in the Integra thread about the dts bomb, is this part of occurring problem with your unit?

Good luck, Bill

I am sorry you have to deal with this crap Dave. You are experiencing the worst of every world - both a dealer and a manufacturer that won't stand behind their product .

I guess it might make a lot of us realize how much we take our local dealers for granted - even though I have had small problems and annoyances with mine over the years, they do try to put the customer first.

I am 8-12 months out from new gear and will not be considering Onkyo or Integra because of your experience, even though the Onkyo receivers were at the top of my list for their feature set.

I have a Denon AVR-3803 in a box in the basement I could loan you ;).

I feel your pain...

My very first H/T was a very cheap Kenwood and I pushed it too hard. It took 3.5 months to get it fixed under warranty, due to there not been any parts available. In the end I wrote to the head office in Australia demanding to know what was going on, and insisted they extend the warranty by the same amount of time it took to get fixed.
Long story short, I got it back 3 weeks after and it lasted 7 years.

I now have my second amp, which is an Integra DTR 7.8. I've had no problems with it at all, and it's been over 8 months.

I know all things can and will break down, it just sucks that for the extra money you've laid out for a top end unit, you get no better service.

Hang in there.

Dave,

Man I am sorry to hear of all the issues both with Integra and your dealer. As someone who has been lucky with these models and who recommended that product I will stop after what I have seen you go through. I must say I hold year dealer as responsible though for his lack of even trying to take care of you. I cannot believe he won't move you up to a 9.9. His margin is enough to comp you and keep a happy customer. I hope you don't give him another cent after this is over.

I'm not dealing with the DTS bomb, although that is one of the things I came across while trying to figure out why my unit didn't work properly.

Thanks for the support, guys. This is the only place I can rant because my family and friends just don't understand what if means to me not to have my system up and running. They don't have the disease.

Hi Dave,
Sorry to hear about your problem with Integra.
I don't know your relationship with the dealer; what are your thoughts on putting some pressure on him to?:

A - let you return the old unit, for an upgrade
B - split the difference in cost of an upgrade

It just seems your dealer should be doing more for you.
Especially if this is where you make most of your purchases.

Good Luck!
Rick

Rick, he offered the upgrade for $200. He said that's his difference in cost. I just don't see the value of putting more money into this for features that I won't use. I've already got over $2K into this thing. Canadians always pay more for stuff and I've reached my limit on this one. Besides, I've never really bought into the philosophy of "Hey, our first product failed, why don't you give us more money?" How about, "Hey, our first product failed. How about we show you that we can build a quality product and we want to make sure our customers are satisfied?"

I know what you mean; you're fed up at this point.
Just seems like the dealer is dropping the ball too.

I had a laser problem with an Integra DVD player, a few years ago.
Integra is based right here in N.J., so I called them, and dealt with them directly. (I wish I could remember the guys name)
They had no replacement lasers, and my DPC-8.3 was out of warrantee.
They offered me the new (and more expensive) DPC-8.5 in it's stead.
