The DTR-8.3 is a nice receiver, but the DTR-7.8 has some fine points that make it better in my opinion. The DTR-7.8 weighs about 10 pounds more, indicating a larger power supply. It features HDMI 1.3 with audio processing (Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD). The DTR-7.8 does not have scalers, it only deinterlaces to 480p.
If it where me, I would spend a lot less and get the Onkyo TX-SR805 (the same receiver as the DTR-7.8 with a much lower street price. Integra has premium prices no matter what, Onkyo is the face all the consumers see and it has a very friendly price at around $700-800 It has a suggested retail of $1100 and it has all the same features and heft of the Integra DTR-7.8.
