in wall speakers, where do they go???

at my girlfriends house shes got two speakers at the top of the stairs she doesnt know where they go though... anyone know if there is a standard area where these things would hook to an audio source...? i checked the kitchen and master bed, no luck... maybe living room?

Do you have a picture? Are you sure there is a speaker in there? Or is it just a grill and nothing inside? Sounds like an intercom to me.

i dont think its a intercom... if so i have no idea where the master unit it....

Strange place for speakers. It must be intented for whole house audio.
