In-wall center channel speaker

Finishing basement and putting lcd or plasma over fireplace. I will have a trey that runs at top with no studs. Looking for good quality center channel speaker with pivoting tweeter to go right above tv in trey. Dont want to break the bank, but do want a quality in wall center channel speaker. Before anyone recommends placing a center channel on mantle, wife already nixed that idea.

You are in an interesting situation. You will want a center channel that matches your front channels due to timbre effects. If you get a different brand or even model of center channel there is a good chance that there will be differences in timber between the front and the center which can greatly detract from a movie experience especially when there is sound going across the sound stage.

My first suggestion would be look at the speakers made by the company who makes your fronts and see if they make an in wall speaker in the same line if they do just buy that one even if it isn't a dedicated center and use that. If they sell them in pairs call and see if you can just buy one if not buy two and set one aside as backup.

If the company doesn't make a in wall in your series I would call them and ask what they suggest to do.

Not only will the tweeter pivot, but the drivers too. This way you can AIM the speaker to your listening area.

nxg technology

thanks for all the good advice, but not looking to go as high end as speakercraft. Does anyone know anything about nxg technology. they have a couple of center channels with front left and right in the same series. Looking to get onkyo txsr 605 and polk psw10 subwoofer. Just trying to figure out the front speakers.
