Gotta say, I'd take David Sanborn over her any day, but she is easy on the eyes. Kinda reminds me of Malin Ackerman.

... and that looks like she's wearing Rick's underwear backwards on acount of the **** hole. :D

Your observations are correct, The House system does not only consist of the Bose L1's because as you know some artists don't know enough about them or just like to stick to what they know, like floor monitors, amps etc. Thats the only reason I can't go all Bose. By the way if you would like to see a video clip from that night in the club go on chicos house of jazz site (media gallery)scroll down to videos, Mindi and the boys are rockin out on the song "Lucy's".

Enjoy, I know I did.
Thanks Bruiser,
That video looks like it was taken right from where I was sitting.:)
I really like Chico's, we had a great time, and I know we'll be back.
You and Maria do a great job there.

Malin Ackerman.

OMG...

I always knew there was a reason I love to watch her movies.:D

If she were playing a saxaphone or any kind of instruments, any speakers would sound awesome.:D

You gotta love Malin Ackerman flicks. That chick LOVES to be naked. I don't think there's a single film I've seen her in where she wasn't naked at some point.

Watchmen - check
The Heartbreak Kid - check
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle - Hella Check!!!

Disclaimer: I haven't read the whole thread.

My little church plant church that meets once a week in a small park pavilion uses one of these systems, with the "sub" included. We frequently play music for background noise while we eat, and it gets used for acoustic guitars, singing mics, and speaking mics on a regular basis. I even played my baritone acoustic guitar through it.

My impression is that it still brings a very unnatural sound to vocals, much like their home audio systems do. Highs are simply lacking, especially for outdoor and large venue applications.

Bass is pretty much nonexistent. I'm not sure what frequency my baritone goes down to (its tuned to a low B much like a seven string guitar) but I was not impressed with that little thing.

I would MUCH MUCH rather be playing thru/listening to a portable Mackie system with conventional mains and a real subwoofer.

However, if I was making good $$ playing small coffee houses solo, I'd consider the Bose unit. Still, it has that signature Bose sound, which means "no highs, no lows, just Bose".

What version/model do you use?
We can only vouch for one of their three models, the only one heard was the L1 Model II.

Who am I to condemn a company ...
Quite right, Mark. That's what the rest of us are here for: to make the hard decisions. Now would somebody find the marketing exec that approved this? He needs to answer for implying that the product being used would fill that space with anything but crap and the company needs to be exposed for being a steaming pile of con artists. I've heard white van and I've heard that wave thing ... guess what ... ;)

Their motto ought to be BOSE Better Profits Through Bullshit.

Rick already pointed out that that the gear you guys heard sounded good for what it was being used for. There's no arguing that and it's good that you two enjoyed yourselves after slinking away from your wives. Really ... who are we to judge? :D

While I find it surprising that you would pass judgment when the only you you heard it was when some buffoon was obviously abusing it, you didn't hear it in the application/venue we heard it, and it was not being asked to do what it wasn't intended to do.

And, you have some idea of what we consider "good" sound, so you would hopefully acknowledge that we know difference between chuck steak and a good Texas rib-eye.

That's it exactly Alex. We only heard it in a very specific venue, and only the one model, and it just happened to be their best of three models.
A 500 watt amp and 24 - 3" drivers.
If my math is correct, that's the equivalent of two - 36" drivers.:D:p
EDIT: I get an area of 189.64" sq. Don't know if that's right. I got area of one 3" driver and multiplied it by 24 (# of drivers)

Mark wanted to sit on the couch like the couple in the Bose ad; I had to draw the line somewhere...:D

I have first hand experience of what you guys consider good and it is some of what I consider the very best that I have heard. I was just placing additional emphasis on your listening experience with the Bose being focused on a somewhat focused type of music.

What I heard was mainstream lets get drunk and dance music at not terribly loud levels with lots of distortion and it had the name Bose on it. The buffoon playing it was smart enough to know not to turn it up until some drinks had been drunk. Maybe he knew exactly what he was doing ... impress with Bose, save his back, get paid.

Yes, yes, yes ... for certain things that rig is great, kinda like that docking station would be a great alarm clock to be gently played in the quiet early morning hours 18 inches from your head when you didn't want to wake Rick up. :D

The math geek in me noticed these numbers didn't seem right.
For 3" circle Area is 0.25(pi x 3^2) = 2.25pi = 7.07 sq. in. per driver
24drivers x 7.07 = 169.65 sq. in. total

169.65/2drivers = 84.83 sq. in. per stereo driver

Need to solve for D:
0.25(pi x D^2) = 84.83
(pi x D^2) = 84.83 x 4 = 339.30
D^2 = 339.30/pi = 108
Square Root of 108 = D = 10.4" diameter if it were stereo drivers.
