For in-ceiling or in-wall I'd be looking at Emotiva. Then I'd add DynaBox's behind them to improve their performance!!! Little pricey for the DynaBox but once you hear the improvement you can't go back!!!

For my 2 cents, I'm a Klipsch fan and am not dissatisfied with the Best Buy in-ceiling 6.5" model. They are very crisp and can get quite loud when playing in 7CH Stereo mode.

I've heard dozens of in-ceiling speakers and they all sound very similar to each other with some being a bit shrill. Over any hard floor, you want to have some tweeter adjustment if possible.

I have been using Monoprice in-ceiling speakers for a while and have found them to sound very similar to other models out there and you can get the 8" model for what the 6.5" model sells for from most other manufacturers and definitely sounds as good, if not better than the competition.

At $60 a pair, they are well worth it!

For only $54.67 each when QTY 50+ purchased - 8 Inches Kevlar 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers (Pair) - 80W Nominal, 160W Max | 8 Inches In-Wall / In-Ceiling Speakers

Worth saying that this should be used for background music only or in a top floor/attic location as any ceiling mounted speakers between floors will have significant audio bleed into the floor above! Also, it is very noticable when you expect audio to come from a TV and instead it comes from speakers overhead - doesn't sound right.

In-wall speakers are a far better choice, if possible, in rooms with video.

BMX: the DynaBoxs that I recommended him will prevent any of that bleed into the room above. It literally absorbs about 90% of the backwave while improving the sound coming off the front of the cone as well. Worth every penny!!

Oh yes, I would definitely agree with that. If there is a way to build in boxes, or put those in, then it is well worth it. Even moreso if there is potential for bleedover to other rooms that needs to be avoided.

I haven't checked pricing on them, but I have heard they are pricey.

Still, I've replaced B&W (and other) in-ceiling speakers with Monoprice speakers, and have had a significant improvement in audio quality and output which leads me to believe that there tends to be very little difference from one in-ceiling to another except for overall build quality.
