If my JBL s26 bookshelf speakers say a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, but I use a multi meter to read the ohms at the terminals and they read 5.2ohms should I change my amp to 6 ohms instead of 8 ohms?

Seriously, I have no life.

No. You measured the DC resistance Re. That is not the impedance Zn.

Never use the impedance switch. Leave it at whatever the default is.

A speaker's impedance isn't one single number such as 8 ohms. It varies with the frequency of the sound. I couldn't find an impedance curve for your speakers, but below is one that's typical of a small 2-way speaker in a port vented cabinet. What matters most are the low points on the curve, the minimum impedance values. Around 200 Hz, this speaker has about 4 or 5 ohms impedance.

Lovinthhd thats for the great article, swerd thanks for the graphs. I follow. Was worrid for a minute cause of the dc impedance rating.
