Onkyo 905 = $1,700 (J&R Music World) = 140wpc x 7 @ 8 ohms. Another good receiver, but still pricey.
I really like your Idea as far as, when a new sound format or something come out, All i need to buy is a new processor, my amp can stay the same. I like that idea. I have an Idea that the IPS-1 @150 watts a channel will have a bit more punch than the 140 watts per channel on the Onkyo 875.

A bit more punch = a bigger smile!!! :D

Ummmm...if you are gonna do it, do it all the way and get the MPS.

Do you need 7 channels? If you are doing a 5.1 you can get the MPS with just 5 amp modules for around 1300 bucks. Emotiva will tell you that they wont do that but they will. They also have a new 5 ch. amp coming out but I dont know the details of that.

Just remember that ALL of David's Def Techs (BP7000SCs, CLR3000, BPVX/Ps) have BUILT-IN Amplifiers for the Subwoofers!!!

Since the Low Frequency/Bass requires the Majority of the Power (Tweeters & Midrange require a lot less), the 150-watts @8 ohms/ 200-watts @ 4 ohms are a lot more than enough.

The Onkyo 875 ($1,100) & 905 ($1,700) have 140-wpc w/2 Ch driven, and 128-wpc w/7 Ch driven.

So the comparison would be 150WPC Emotiva vs. 128WPC Onkyo.

I'm surprise you don't also use the LFE inputs on your BP7000SCs!
Each BP7000SC has a built-in SuperCube Reference 14-inch, 1800 watts Subwoofer.
That would give you a total of FOUR SuperCube Reference Subwoofers!!!:D

No, I mean the LFE inputs, which you have FOUR: BP7000SC x 2 + SCReference x 2.

I believe the Emotiva Pre-pros have 3 LFE subwoofer outputs, so you will need a Y-Cable to make it a total of FOUR LFE outputs.

So how is that Trinity Sub??? Is it true what they say, that is can produce a 20 Hz note at over 100+ DB

The Emotiva XPA-5 is the 200w x 5 amp due out in January. At $699, it looks like a winner.

But while the Emotiva are adequate, they are not overkill. This is overkill.

That Emotiva looks great. I wonder if they will offer the same on a 7-ch @ $1,000? That would be an unbeatable price.

The Anthem's are not overkill at 325wpc RMS @8ohms & 500wpc RMS @4ohms.

Rotel has amps that are 500wpc RMS @8ohms & 1000wpc RMS @4ohms! That's overkill!:D

Actually, I'm dissappointed that the Anthems can't do 650wpc @4ohms!

I'll see your Rotel and raise you a set of Bryston 28B SST.

Maximum power at onset of clipping into 8 ohms 1300w. It is spec'd down to a 4 ohm load, but no power rating given. I can only imagine. Five of those ought to buy you a Lexus.

The Emo XPA-5 must be looking awfully good right now. For the record, I am on the pre-order list for an XPA-5. I think it looks like a great deal.

The Trinity Sub SOUNDS like it can produce a 20 Hz note at 120dB, but I don't have the lab equipments to confirm that.:D

I have this DTS Test CD that has a 10Hz-20Hz Sweep. I sound level match all my channels to 65dBC. Right off the bat (10Hz), the Trinity immediately produced the level-matching SPL of 65 dBC. With the Trinity Gains Control (volume) set to 50%, the Trinity Sub produced this extremely powerful scary earthquake-like sound wave. I don't even want to be around to hear what it sounds like at 120dB!:D

The BP7000SCs' SuperCube Reference Internal Subs pack a huge punch of their own as well. Again with all my channels matched at 65dBC, the BP7000SCs produced a 45dBC right off the bat (10Hz) and within 5 seconds got up to 65dBC, which I assume is around 16-20Hz.

I'm sure my measurements are not 100% accurate with my limited equipment, especially with my reference sound level at 65dBC, instead of the usual 90dBC.:)

But it does sound like an 10,000 cubic inch earthquake-producing beast with two 14-inch subwoofer drivers, four 14-inch radiators, and a 2,000-watts RMS amplifier!

I'm sure your Four SuperCube Reference Subs (including the 2 SC-Refs in the BP7000SCs) can also produce all the bass you will ever need.

Oh crap! 1,300 Watts @ 8 ohms? Damn. I think we can assume that @ 4 ohms, it's at least 2,000 watts!!!

Okay, my new dream amp is now the Bryston!!!:D

Yeah, the MPS-2 looks darn good. Who knows, by Feb, the price may drop even more. 200-watts per channel @8 ohms seems to be the "Gold" standard these days.
If they can come up with a $700 amp that has 200-watts x5 ($140 per channel), I think they can come up with a $980 200-watts x 7! The odds look pretty good.

How much duty/taxes did you end up paying on the receiver when you crossed back into Canada?
Abt Electronics had a sale in end October where the 905 was US$1498.
Cdn Customs did the std 8%/6% GST/PST which came to $211.
Abt did not add any sales tax when shipping from IL to NY state.
