I think I'm in the wrong forum as I'm basically a two channel listener, however ill ask any. I have the rotel ra1592 integrated 2ch amp @ 200wpc. I have to turn the vol up so much(75 out of 95) to get anything out it. Is this normal ?

Dunno. What's the line voltage of your pre / source? Are you talking about turning up the volume on your source, or turning up the gain on your Rotel?

If the volume scale is in dB increments doesn't sound too unusual. Also (aside from the gain questions Rojo asked) depends how loud it is at 75 and at what distance with what speakers...

There are some dedicated two ch folk around here (I have such but mostly am into multich).

That definitely doe snot sound normal. If the source voltage is very small, than the problem might lay outside of the Rotel. Try the source on another amplifier, if it behaves normally, then the problem lies with the Rotel, in which case you need to contact Rotel's technical support.

Okay that doesn't sound great. What's your source (input)? Just explaining all your gear and setup involved up front helps generally.

ps Welcome to the forum

OK, you're starting to get some where , now to which input source are you speaking ? for if both then I'm thinking Rotel issues ??

If CD player is connected optically, and the volume is too low, the problem may be in rotel. Digital inputs generally don't go down in volume. They just either work or don't. .

Sounds like your integrated amp is suspect. Get a 1/8th" to RCA for your cell phone (assuming you have a smart phone). If your ear buds play fine then the amp should work fine. If it doesn't then you have an issue with the Rotel.

Seriously, I have no life.
I cannot see the faceplate well enough on their website so check and make sure the mute button is not engaged if it has one. Maybe by remote? Or, a midnight mode engaged?

Good point!
Some mute controls just knock 20dB off instead of going silent.

Is this a brand new unit and did this from the start, or just recently started to happen, or ?
