lol darien, yeah I hear you but there's only so many "Yes I am" cards you can pull in a lifetime of marriage, and I have my eyes set out for a vrsc-cdx harley davidson that will use up quite a bit of "Yes I am" mana points that I don't know if I will have any left for a speaker system.

that being said, i took a look at the orbs, and they look nice but there's something about them... maybe it's the fact that they don't really have a dedicated center.

i think for now, i'm actually leaning toward the mirage os3s. from a mixture of aethetics and reviews (i still need to go test them out), they look like the best bose alternative.

that and i'd probably upgrade my current onkyo to an hdmi 1.4a one to supprot a future 3d tv....

thanks for all of the help on this~

Actually, they do have a dedicated center. Any speaker which is used for the center is the "dedicated center" speaker.

There are lots of people in and around many audio forums that use a tower speaker or another bookshelf as the center channel. They don't need to be a horizontal rectangle all the time.

In all honesty, it's better if all your speakers are designed exactly the same. They are more likely to be a perfect match in sound since they are the same design.
