HSU VTF-3 HO Thread (Please)

I don't know why the comparo thread was locked, and I'd rather not speculate...

If Craig is still willing, some of us would welcome further posting about his tests, comparo, or otherwise.

It is quite unfortunate that for one reason or another, threads on the '3 HO do not have a long life. IMHO, the key is to keep it civil and technical....

I agree I keep looking for a new HO thread. I realize these are oppinions and numbers, but they are oppinions from someone that has heard a lot of subwoofers. I am still awaiting my HO and so I cannot listen myself.

That's good to hear Craig. In the meantime, I don't suppose you still have the test gear set up so that you could post the results with the original driver in the maximum extension mode with Turbo installed and EQ applied.

For those of us with smaller spaces, this would be a good reference to the last graphs you posted.

Artie - I don't have it hooked up now, and really should wait for the new drivers before doing any additional measurements. Peter Marcks said ALL the drivers would be replaced, so any more impressions using a driver which appears to be beneath the standards set by Hsu Research would really not be fair to them.

I agree! I really enjoyed most of the subjective impressions and some of the info Craig was providing in that thread.

But Craig is famous for threads which go on 15-20 pages before anything actually happens. That is also a talent.

When you will remove the "old" driver from the box can you take a picture of the old and new driver side by side and explain us what are the differences between those drivers.

I sent Peter a PM last week asking about the replacement drivers - no word back. As soon as any word is given (and I check the Hsu sight daily), I will post about it.

I just read on the HSU forum that the new drivers arnt due till June. Supposely are to ship HO again next week with old drivers and replace later.

Can you find out if there is any actual difference in the drivers? HSU called me last week to say my pre-order could ship or I could wait for a new driver. They told me the only difference was the speaker clearance issue where the back would hit something and make noise during heavy bass scenes.

It did not seem like the new driver would perform any different from the phone call.

I will see what I can find out - if this is the case, perhaps the VTF-3 HO's I have here will deliver a couple extra dB in SPL with the new drivers.

What is your opinion of the Earthquake MKV-15? With all the HSU delays I have been looking at SVS options and like the smaller size of the MKV-15.
