Growth can be scary

Perhaps they got nervous when they saw 56K hits on one subwoofer thread in two weeks.

OMG, we will have to beef up our servers, raise our advertising rates, make more money and pay more taxes

Or was it the 50 pages of chatter and fat gals vs. the 2 pages of relevant info? :D

Humm, you may be right, it may have been the fat girls that caused the closure. OTOH, with all of the substantive threads here, that one really stood out for its lack of substance. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to the "What's your favorite beer" thread:rolleyes:  :D :p

Craig,

What is your opinion of the Earthquake MKV-15? With all the HSU delays I have been looking at SVS options and like the smaller size of the MKV-15.

Thank you!
I'm Obviously not Craig. ;)

But I do remember reading some positive posts from Craig on the ACI Maestro. And I posted a few days ago in another thread that I was emailing back and forth with someone who sold his Maestro for a MKV-15 (which I believe I already mentioned to you). But I just wanted to post a link to that post so both you and Craig can read it directly, as I think it says volumes about the performance of the MKV-15: http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showpost.php?p=169575&postcount=11

Hope that helps a little, and sorry to derail the thread.
Steve

Pretty much it just seemed that it had run its course (the thread)... that's all it was. If it was in the Steam Vent or general area it would ave stayed open, but sine it was supposed to be a sub thread...

When threads get that big they can loose momentum or get side tracked for a page or two but with high interest content like the HO, they usually get back on track. You guys might have been a little quick on the trigger on that one.

What does the HO mean at the end of the sub name? Is the sub that I have the HO? And if not, what is the difference between the MKII and the HO?

The HO stands for "High output"

MKII
Frequency response (Maximum extension mode) ± 2 dB 18 Hz
Frequency response (Maximum output mode) ± 2 dB 22 Hz
Amplifier power rating 350 Watts
Down firing 12" woofer

HO
Frequency response (Maximum extension mode) 16 Hz ± 1 dB
Frequency response (Maximum output mode) 20 Hz ± 1 dB
Woofer size 12 inches using XBL^2 TM Linear BL motor technology
Sidefiring 12" woofer
Amplifier power rating 500 Watts (2000w peak)

These are a few of the differences, I'm sure other will list some more.

I plead guilty to pushing the fat gals schtick when, between the usual snipers, and other sub-optimal issues (weather, driver spec issue, etc) somewhat derailed Craig's thread.

I hope that the primary detractors whose inflammatory or "less than polite" posts brought out the worst in many of us will heed pleas and advice and either keep their comments objective or stick to their own threads in the future. I for one will avoid posting controversial fanboy/troll posts or otherwise p*ss**g in their territory .

I am looking forward to having the to-spec Hsu drivers being tested in both objective and subjective environments. I'm already on record saying the HO's are a cut above my older Hsu products in SQ, I'm just curious to see how much more measurable performance Dr. Hsu was able to coax out of a single 12" driver ported sub at a price point of less than a kilobuck.

Thanks for letting us know what the deal was. I know we can get sidetracked  In our defense, the silly chatter pretty much ended whenever something of substance was brought up or posted. But, at least I know now to behave. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to a new thread when the new drivers are out.

Is there really anything worth waiting for?

An HO owner who has swapped in the new driver reports no difference.

I suspect that unless you got the tapping noise with the old driver, there is not going to be any meaningful difference with the new driver.

This is what I expect, however, even better performance would be welcome, (as I asked Hsu not to ship my pair of VTF-3HO's until they have replaced the drivers).

If this post is an internal contradiction... well, I'm just tired of the dearth of discussion and further testing of this sub.

I did not think anyone had the new driver yet. The original bad driver was replaced but not with the new driver.

Hey maybe I am wrong and I am closer to my HO.

There is a sad story in the air that Craig Chase has decided to give up posting on the A/V internet Forums due to a lot of major frustration, (to put it mildly).

Many of us have benefitted from his years of experience with a wide range of products; sophisticated testing methods and equipment; posted graphs and measurements; in-home comparos with guests, etc., etc,.

Craig, if you are still out there, please come back.

I have seen Craig posting at AVS recently hopefully he will continue his reviews in the future, I enjoyed reading them.

I don't believe this to be true. Craig has been trying to understand something other than subwoofers of late, THE GOLF SWING.;) :D Remember Craig, it's all in the hips.;)

Plus I think he's been working on his own project and waiting until he has some of the new breed (maestro XL, BMF, Seaton, etc...) to post about. I could be wrong though.

Can't wait to hear how things are going up in good ole Erie, I hope the humidity is a bit lower due to the lake cause it sux right now in SE Pa. :(
