Hey guys, there's an MK1 for sale on Craigs for $125.00. I know this is an old sub, but if it tests ok would this be a fair price? My room is only around 1100 cubic, but this might be a way for me to finally upgrade my POS Sony. Money's been tight. Thanks!

That's probably about right, maybe $100 depending on condition. I owned one before and it is a pretty good sub, though it won't fill a large room adequately even in max output mode.

Thanks, the room is quite small, so I am actually concerned it might be too large if there is such a thing I understand it's pretty big, dimensions wise. Also wondering about those two ports...

I'm going to say going on past experience with Sony subs, this one will be an improvement over your current one. No, there is no such thing as too much sub, though this one is not a bottom dweller. It will get you to ~25Hz in output mode and close to 20 in extension mode IIRC. The two ports and a switch on the amp allow you to select that tuning - you'll need to manual to properly configure it as you could damage it if you set the amp one way and configure the ports another.

Thanks for the quick replies I'm going to call the guy and hope it's still around!

I have the Dayton 1200 in a small/medium room, so that is another to consider. I've had it for 2 months and really like it. Yeah there are better out these, but for the price it can't be beaten. No boom boom either.

Hmm...would the suggestion be to go with the new dayton? Any performance compromise or comparison?

Just negotiate a bit and grab it. You will have no regrets with this upgrade. Do check the condition.

Well, the HSU was sold...:( so now I am reconsidering the whole thing and thinking of home auditioning subs from SVS, HSU and the Dayton. Models to consider are the SB1000, STF-2 and the SUB-1200.
