This open house is today, so if any of you are around Anaheim and don't have anything planned, why not drop by. Also don't forget to give me a heads up on the new product. If you can include specs, that would be good.

I'll be hitting the road for Anaheim in about an hour (9am) for the loooonnnnng drive. It's about a 130 mile round trip for me but my curiosity is killing me so I'm going. The camera batteries are changed and the car loaded. I'll be there from about 11am to around noon or so. I'm hoping to get some ear time with the new product and Hsu's speakers just to satisfy my curiosity.

The new sub is called the VTF-15H. Impressive design and price point.

Can't post too much from my phone. Perhaps someone will get to a PC before me."

Any pics of the woofer out of the enclosure? Doesn't look anything like the one used in the ULS-15.

Dr. and Mrs Hus where charming and very helpful, and the demo was knock your socks off.

Here is the new 15" vented sub with Pete in it for scale.

And here is the sealed ULS-15 minus driver.

So is now a good time to start harassing Pete from HSU and Gene to get a review on this?:p

My only real concern is the RMS power rating is pretty modest. I don't have the spec sheet handy but the continuous power rating was on the order of 350w with a short term rating of roughly 1300-1400w. I understand that watts are not the be-all/end-all in a sub but I have to wonder how they compare to an eD A7-350.

This is pretty telling....
and for you output junkies: 123-125dB max clean CEA2010 peak output capability from 40-100hz, 121dB@31.5Hz, 118dB@25Hz, 114dB@20Hz (these are with both ports open @ 1 meter).

I got flamed a little on AVS for asking this exact same question. Glad I'm not the only one asking it!

Thanks for the pics sholling. Like I said at AVS, watts doesn't mean nearly as much as sensitivity of the driver. It looks like to me that this has a pretty good driver, to achieve those spl measurements. I'd love to know the excursion capability of that driver, I'm guessing it's pretty high- just look at that heavy duty gasket. Think about this, doubling the amplifier power typically only amounts to a 3 db gain in SPL for speakers. To human perception, that's not a lot louder. But a 700 watt RMS amp would be considerably more expensive than a 350 watt amp, and not only that, it adds a lot more weight.

I don't know the max output measurements for the A7, but I wouldn't be surprised if the VTF-15H can come close or match it. It looks like from Ilkkas measurements of max clean output, this thing is matching the output performance of a PB13 Ultra which is twice as expensive, and the A7 isn't going to be a lot louder than a PB13 Ultra. I hate to gush over something that isn't even a day old, but now throw in variable tuning points, variable damping values, 90 lbs lighter, and less expensive, it makes the VTF-15H an amazing value. Having said all that, I would like to see third party measurements on it, Hsu's measurements are just unbelievable. They must have put a hell of a driver in that thing.

I'm looking forward to the shootout. I'm planning to add a second sub in my family room after the 1st of the year and it would be a big help.
