morning sir,
I have done the auto tuning by maac by keeping cross over knob to maximum and volume at 60% knob at 12-1 clock.

I measured manually distance between speaker and listening position but both values does not match.

When I select small for front speakers double bass option will go out and when I select large options will come back to cvhange double bass.

When I heard with above settings bass is more voice is not clear.

My doubts are
1) should I change distance which I got by measuring manually in the receiver
2) after auto tuning, subwoofer cross over knob where it should be kept max or 12 clock position or match with av receiver cross over- 80hz
3) should I enable double bass

Please help me . Thanks in advance
With regards
Vinayaka

Your measured distance (delay) with MCACC may differ from your manual measurements due to room effects/speaker placement somewhat....did you measure with the microphone placed where your ears normally are? Subwoofer distance may not match up particularly due to the additional processing time in the sub's amp, and can sometime benefit with further experimentation with the setting. Have you tried flipping the phase on the sub back and forth to see what gets you the stronger response? Experiment with your manual settings vs MCACC, after all in the end its simply preference.

I'd still not use the low pass filter on your sub and keep that set to it's maximum value, altho some subs using an LFE input will do that automatically. Cascading filters together (the one on the sub and the one in your avr) is not generally recommended but hey if you like it, go for it.

I personally don't use double bass features myself, nor recommend them. You might elevate the subwoofer channel level in the avr as another way to bring up the bottom end but without the doubling up of frequencies in the speakers that double bass features can do, many do this. Even large floor standers I still set to small so I can utilize my more-capable subs. You may benefit from a more capable sub, too (how large a space does yours need to pressurize?).

Yeah that’s a fairly big difference. What I usually do when in doubt is manually measure, the i sit directly in the center and play multichannel pink noise. If the distances are all exactly correct, it should sound like it’s almost coming from inside your head or headphones. Note that the trim levels have to be set correctly before doing this for it to work. Why not try rerunning MCACC?

Agreed, big differences for the most part (center and sub and one height are close). Where/how did you position the mic for MCACC ? Have pictures of how your speakers are setup?

Seeing the spec on the sub, that seems more a music-only sub and IMO not even a very good one for that either, maybe that's why you don't find much benefit setting your mains to large, too. Rooms have three dimensions (subs see volume), how tall is your ceiling?

Not sure what the Dolby settings you refer to are in post 10, on what page of the manual are they discussed?

I'd also suggest a full reset of the avr and another run of MCACC.

Resize your pictures before uploading them if they're too large...

Thanks for the reply
  • I have used tripod sitting on the chair which is at the level of ear when I sit on chair
  • I have done macc tuning after resetting probably 10 times but distance is same
  • Can you please send your email so that I can send the pictures
  • If all my speakers are not good please suggest what should I buy I have almost invested 2.5-3 lakhs of rupees
  • Do you recommend adding one more. Subwoofer if yes what should be the brand. In India we have Velodyne/ SVS / BIC america/ REL and what should be the size of subwoofer presently I have 10’ should I go for 12’ or 15’
  • Can I keep my present subwoofer and one more or change old subwoofer and by new and is it should be same brand or other
  • Option for Dolby comes in the audio adjust option in the manual which I did not understand.
  • I have attached home theatre lay out plan I don’t know how to figure out height in that diagram
  • With regards
  • Vinayaka
