as far as the amp...how should the mode switches go
input 1
1) clip limiter ...on
2) low cut filter 50 hz or low cut filter 30 hz...30 hz
3) low cut filter...off
4) stereo/ parallel inputs...parallel inputs
5) stereo/ parallel inputs...parallel inputs
input 2
6) bridge mode...on
7) bridge mode...on
8) low cut filter...off
9) low cut filter 50 hz or low cut filter 30 hz...30 hz
10) clip limiter ...on

this is my best guess from reading the instructions.

it says not to turn off low cut filter, but i think a sub should go under 30 hz and the dcx2496 will handle this???

it says to use both positive outputs from both channels when bridged....does this mean i put the red speaker wire in the input 1 positive speaker output and the black speaker wire in the input 2 positive speaker output. is that it?

also the speaker says it handles 1000 watts...how's it going to handle 2400...or can it handle that amount of power for short periods of time
I'll let annukai chime in on specific switch settings. But you do not want the low cut filter to be enbabled on the EP2500. You must disable this.

The 1000RMS rating is the continuous thermal power handling ability. The speaker can handle far more power for short periods. Music and movie F/X are not continuous signals. I expect you will use your subwoofer responsibly, and not drive it so hard that it clips/bottoms out often. You could potentially damage the subwoofer if you ABUSE it. But this is something you have to pay attention to with many things. If you hear any type of distortion or other audible problem, reduce the gain a little bit. If the problem persists, I can provide you with a setting adjustment for the DCX to reduce excursion. But the settings I provided should be fine unless you like to drive your subwoofer to extreme SPLs often.

The best instructions I can give are the bridging instructions right on the rear of the amplifier itself.

Just leave the sub sonic filter off.

I am not at home to check my settings though.

i got the insulation today...if you check out the pics i can finish that tonight...is this ok?...i was going to add grill cloth over the insulation and spray it with adhesive...it that ok?

i just have to figure out how to wire the amp to be bridged and do setting on amp and eq. then i'm ready

i set everything up...using input a...i set nr 1 to 22 hp and nr 2 to 86 lp...
i have no sound....setting the db and q only work in bp...anyway i have no sound...i think i adjusted input a and output 1 on the eq page. gonna read more about it tomorrow

I will look at my settings tonight.

You want to leave the hp at 22hz off. You want to make sure you set up the input correctly as well as the output. You may have to increase the output gain some.

I left all of the filters and such off on the input side and did all adjustments on the output side. I think I bumped the input sensitivity (gain) about 3db or so. Other than that all adjustment was done on the output.

ok cool....it makes sound now...after going through setup and touching something...chris told me what to put in...just not sure where to put it...if i choice the low pass or high pass...lp or hp instead of band pass (bp) i can't incert the Q...and then what do you put in the dynamic eq?...
thanks,
sean

by the way, this dcx2496 is very complicated for the beginner...i'm afraid i'll input something wrong and the whole thing will blow up

I did not even use dynamic EQ. I simply placed all of the EQ in one EQ section. It is difficult to explain the process without the unit in front of me.

In the one bp section, you can enter multiple eq frequencies.

Once I discovered this, I realized that the possibilities were nearly limitless with this device.

If you are just running one driver:

1) clip limiter ...on (I leave mine off)
2) low cut filter 50 hz or low cut filter 30 hz...30 hz- Doesn't matter, it is set to off.
3) low cut filter...off
4) stereo/ parallel inputs...stereo
5) stereo/ parallel inputs...stereo
input 2
6) bridge mode...on
7) bridge mode...on
8) low cut filter...off
9) low cut filter 50 hz or low cut filter 30 hz...30 hz
10) clip limiter ...on

Nothing on input 2 matters, you are not using it. Make sure the attenuation knob for input 2 is turned all the way down at all times.

In the bp section, be sure it is set to EQ. There is a NR icon next to the EQ icon on the top line of the display for that page. This is followed by a number. You can set the eq settings for NR:1 and then set the NR to 2 and add another, and so on.

I have 3 different settings in the one EQ area. I am not sure how many bands of EQ can be added for each one, but I bet it is a lot. If needed, you still have the Dynamic EQ to work with as well.

i set dcx2496 to mono...put crossover on output 1 of 20 hzand 84hz...added to eq's..nr1 and nr2...eq 1 is 22hz +6 db q 1.4...second is 85hz gain -3 db q 0.7 in bp mode...per chris

i didn't touch dynamic eq or input eq

from my understanding bandpass adjusts gain near the frequency and lowpass adjusts gain below the frequency and highpass adjusts gain above the frequency. also you can only determine q for bp..not lp or hp

do i need and hp or lp eq settings?

i also muted all inputs and outputs except input a and output 1

what type of crossover do i use...but24, bes24 etc...and at what octave/db...12, 24, 48 etc...?

what do i do with polarity and phase?

other than that it sounds good.

changed amp from parallel inputs to stereo..that helped alot paradog

thanks for the settings annunaki and chris

other than that it sounds good.

thanks for everyone's help...here are some pics...i think i would do a better job with the vinyle next time
