How to make a Lexicon RT-10 region free.

Hello,

I have just purchased a Lexicon RT-10 DVD player.

I live in Mexico, so before buying it, I checked the manual and it describes a procedure to change the region at your will. I tried it but did not work.

Then I contacted various websites who claim to have the codes. For a fee, DVD Exploder gave me the very same copy of the manual I already had. The others do not have anything for my player. :(

I called Lexicon in the US but they say it is illegal for them to make region conversions, then suggested me to contact my local distributor. I did, and they say they don't have the know-how to do it, since all units come "factory setup" from the US (?). I went back to Lexicon's email technical support in the US, but so far they have not replied.

Soooo, I am stuck with my American Region 1 player and wishing to make it Region free, or at least Region 1-4 (which is how most players are sold in Mexico). There is nothing illegal in my search, it's just that I have so many region 4 discs, that's what we get in stores in Mexico.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards.

I'd suggest that you post this question on Audiogon. There are a lot of Lexicon users there and you will probably get some really good information.

FWIW, i looked at my manual today and the instructions are there. You may have done something wrong.I would give it another shot very carefully and see if it takes.

Thanks for your reply! I have already posted my request in Audiogon. You are right, there are plenty of "Lexiconers" in there. Will keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks! I have gone through the procedure plenty of times. I am positive the country code has been changed to Mexico. And there is a way to check it:

- Setup the Country Code in the General tab as described in the Manual. Mexico is 1-3-2-4.
- Change the Setup Menu Mode to Basic.
- In Parental lock, you should be able to see "Off(mx)" showing the corresponding letters for whatever country you chose.
- Press Display. That will show you the current region and firmware revision.

So the same screen shows that the Country has been correctly set-up to Mexico (mx) and the Region stays in #1. I really don't understand the purpose of that Country code selection, but in my case it does not unlock the player (?) Maybe there is a mistake I keep making again and again, but don't know what it is.

I will keep looking.

Thanks for your support.

Juan.
