Well, s#%t. Projector was ON with HDMI Link ON? Receiver HDMI Control ON? Control for HDMI ON in disc player? Link to TV Valid in disc player?

If yes to all above and still no app control, you might try to control player with projector remote controller using HDMI Link.

Yes, the Shield remote is pretty cool actually. It has both bluetooth and IR, so it uses bluetooth to control the Shield and IR to control the receiver if you have line of sight.

Sony manual is here. The remote sensor is in the front, so likely IR, and there is no remote jack in the back. HDMI-CEC is hit and miss. I have a Shield and cable box on a new Denon X4800H connected to a Samsung S95B. The TV and cable box sometimes get confused when switching between sources and I'm about to disable CEC entirely, it can be such a pain. If the components are in another room, I am surprised that the previous owner did not already have an IR repeater to control the receiver.
Thanks for the assistance. I connected the receiver to the modem and was able to switch input between Cable/Sat (was using for SHIELD) and Blue-Ray for the Sony. Unfortunately, it looks like I will need the IR repeater since the controls from the Denon App did not actually control the Sony blue ray player.
The weird thing is that once I connected the Denon receiver to the network, the Denon logo comes on when I turn on the Epson projector versus the Epson logo and the Shield does not show on the screen even though I turn on the Shield using the Shield remote. It is like it is stuck on the Denon receiver. Any thoughts on a fix?
Thanks in advance.
