I have one question. How do you guys pay for this addiction?? Do you use credit cards, cash, loans or what??!! Do you have to go through the same troubles after every single piece of audio equipment you buy??!! Having the wife mad, complaining how it is not a priority and blah blah blah!!! I was wondering if this is normal. LOL I find myself thinking of new ways to get stuff in the house without it being known. I tell ya. WEll let me know.:D

Lose the spouse. They suck up money like a vacuum. When she's gone you'll have more money to spend. And better yet, when you spend it you won't have to get permission or feel guilty about it. That's free advice ;) .

It depends on the spouce....In my case my wife doesn't care as long as the other obligations are met:) You know mortgage, taxes, etc., etc., also when you have a kid it's tougher. I'm down to 2 guitars and one amp (life's not fair);)

I use a card and then pay it off in full before the interest kicks in.

My wife is great about it. I always keep her informed/involved and she understands the concept of spending more money and be happier longer. She also understands that speakers look like speakers.

She did balk at the thought of a new drum set. ($3500-$5000 not including cymbals) I don't even play in a band I just use it as therapy.

Even the strictest of wives normally dole out pocket money - so save it and when you have enough, spend it.

Before my divorce I used to trade; she could have that Welsh Dresser/pair of shoes/[insert girly thing of choice here] if I could have that TV/electronic widget/[insert boy toy of choice here].

Now I just buy this stuff cash and I save if I don't have enough handy. I can't think of any hobby I'd like enough to get into considerable debt over - except maybe flying.

AdrianMills= I'm lucky, I get paid to fly.:)

I thought about loosing the wife, but wouldn't have a babysitter for my dog when I go on my trips!:D

Even with everything taken care of, she jusct can't see how thousands are spent!!:p

Solution.

Keep the wife in an expensive car. When you need to feed your addiction, just say "honey, you get to drive that car that cost so much. If we are short of money, we may need to consider selling it." Then, just pick-out whatever you want.

BTW, my wife's car note is more than the house note!:D:eek:

Sorry, but I just have to laugh. Did you end up getting a divorce because you were tired of having a woman treat you like a child and dole out an allowance?

I use credit cards for out of state gear but pay them off as soon as the bill comes in,for in state gear i use cash in person,to this day i have no out of pocket money into any of my gear,i simply buy everything i see thats a smoking deal, use it till im tired of it then sell it at max value,it takes a few years & a lot of trading but you end up way ahead & you get to try all the best gear for free.

1) Avoid long term relationships
2) Practice cheap dating
3) Work in the industry
4) Rob liquor stores

These methods have all worked out pretty well for me.

We get old.
We get fat.
We get ugly.
Better snatch-up the best looking woman you can get now.
Unless you want to be the old fart with the young, dumb blonde.

But, with option #4, you may end-up being someone's b!t(h.

Holidays, birthdays, etc. My wife bought me a TV, Receiver, Speakers, Sub, MD Player, and Xbox360. It helps that she has a decent job ;)

:D

Although I was partially joking I have known others whose wives have dealt with the finances and they literally handed out pocket money. Strangely, those marriages seemed to be quite happy.

My wife is quite cooperative with my addiction, but I must admit I usually don't tell her the true cost of things...("but honey, that subwoofer was only nine bucks") She actually enjoys this stuff almost as much as I do. I'm lucky enough to have a good paying job and almost no big bills anymore, so I can afford to indulge myself with cash. :D

I pay with cash or take advantage of the "0% for (fill in the blank) days" offered by stores. We never let things go on credit cards for any length of time. It's a bad practice to get into. We have no children (except me).

Besides, the CFO of my "corporation" won't let me go into the red.

(I try to run it as a non-profit organization. She won't let me :( )
