If you were buying AV stuff on a credit card then it would require justification
I fall in line with the guys that do it for the at home enjoyment of others and self, but mostly self. Actually for me I am a DIYer and building the speakers is 1/2 the fun. Having late nights out in my garage working with my hands and seeing a project come to completion is a great feeling. That makes all the expense of the project worth it.
In the long run (my oldest is 7) I hope my home is a place where my kids will want to bring their friends and hang out. My kids love movies more than I do, and I love watching them enjoy the system I have now.
I don't spend money on booze, drugs, or strippers and I am mormon, does that make it any different?
