Click to expand... you also might risk a feedback loop from one into another... it's never a good idea to feed two active processes into one wire with a y. ain't cheap ?? ouchie.. you're 2/3 of the way to a very good receiver or processor at that price.. why stop at just a switch ?

S stuman Audiophyte Dec 19, 2004 4 0 0 Dec 19, 2004 #6 format war ? with this constant switching the DVD audio and the sacd.The sacd sounds a heckava lot better.I am using these separets only because my Onkyo SP-800 THX Ultra is broke .(door won't open?!)The sep.Sony sacd sounds better the Onkyo.That Zector mentions has me slobbering tho.arrgh!

Pioneer's DV-578A ($130), Toshiba's SD-6915 ($130), Onkyo's DV-SP502 ($270) will all play either format plus various combinations of CD's, MP3's, etc. There are more, you just have to find them. This might be a good alternative to a $450 multi-channel switch if money is a big concern. Another thought would be to use Y adapters on the RCA plugs. Just be sure to only turn on one unit at a time.

Anyway if you want to try, what you do is buy two of these (link below). Run 3 rca from the SACD player to input 1, and 3 rca from the DVD-A player to input 2, then repeat with the 2nd unit, then run 3 rca out from each switcher to the receiver, then all you have to do is click the two input 1's for SACD, or the two input 2's for DVD-A. switch
