@everettT sadly you are correct. The state of California mismanaging forestry areas, mis-use of gov funds. Not funding their fire department correctly.

In my post of that insurance company not caring, should have stated many are Not renewing home and or other insurance policies months before the so called fire season on the west coast. (Plausible deniability).

2.8 million reported probably more than that like, No insurance or priced out couldn't afford. Eat? Or pay insurance bill each month/yearly.

Read an article of fire hydrants being inadequate fighting wildfires which makes sense to me. So mayor took off to go to the African continent used funds that should have been put to good use for, well fire fighter, new gear, training, oh maybe better water supply for fighting wildfires.

Not trying to get into the politics. Pointless many people lost their lives, millions of homes burned, billions of dollars lost and counting. FEMA?

Funny how a disaster happens, the first thing ( State elected officials) scream for FEMA where's our government aid. Each State has a duty to citizens first.

Funds get put in the hands of others first instead of going where it should go.

Here in hurricane Alley, anything below I-10 HWY Is! flood zone across All States alone the Gulf. But people love coastal marshland I guess.

Take Florida for example, how many storms have hit that state just in the last decade past + being exposed on 3 sides.

I know you read some of the post above of car insurance alone. Of the funds used for ensuring their pride/prized joy-rides.

I read, some celebrities just jetted they have the funds to do it.

Paris Hilton + other well offs. Wonder if that privileged woman stopped, offered assistance, rides or whatever in her helicopter out of the fire zone or limousine to others. Bet any Hilton hotels will be first in-line having hands out for FEMA money.

Don't know can't say privileged wealthy or whatever for the lack of a better word, may not have been in the area at the time. Multitude of hard working back-bone of their community not so lucky.
The thing about hurricanes, is we know they are coming, plus what occurs around the gulf coast of the US impacts those further inland. Hurricane Helene for example.

Cat 3 to 5 in the middle of the Gulf, will destroying, disrupt oil and gas production. Way before actually hitting landfall. Takes only one production platform to go down tied into the chain. All of the follow, All tied to pipelines coming in from the Gulf floor inland though all Gulf coastal States. All storms are mother nature. Wildfires, are not all mother nature related.

Here in Canada, my property tax for 2025 has gone up about $40/month for a 1500 sq foot rowhouse end unit plus $75 condo fees. House prices have gone through the roof in most of the big metropolitan areas in Canada because of the shortage of housing.

I live just outside of Milwaukee and the high school, which was built in 1954, needed repairs/lead/mold/Asbestos abatement and updating. The amount of the project, which was settled by referendum, came to $77.4 million. The school's student population has dropped to about 1250 and it's not expected to increase- the city is land-locked but they're bulding more affordable housing in the form of (mostly) single-story multi units, so it's possible that it could increase, but they aren't expecting it. NextDoor had discussions about it and some of the people made comments that showed they clearly didn't see a reason to look for better value in it, rather than "It's for the children- they need the best" crap. Yeah, they need what they need, but shop around, FFS! The cost has been added to our property tax, to the tune of an 18% increase. Then, there's the $9 million that the middle school needs, mainly because the Superintendent and business manager didn't do their freaking jobs and after they left, the audit showed the district is short $3M-$5m dollars.

This isn't a high income area- I don't know what they were thinking, but it didn't have anything to do with reason.

I just got my own first IR camera:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D3DZV19P
I've spent my 3 years in the army fixing laser distance measurement and night vision devices.
This little gadget is much smaller, cheaper, and FAR exceeds anything I've touched in the army.
I confirmed one of the worst heat-losing spots in my home and planning to fix it asap.
If you going to buy it - make sure you select the right version. As in both port and Google Android or Apple IOS. They are NOT cross-compatible.
