Higher education finally paying off

i'll be back with pictures shortly. but, here is my little system in text format.

- Mains: Boston Acoustics VR3
- Center: Polk CSi5
- Surrounds: Polk FXi5
- Sub: Polk PSw505
- Receiver (used as a preamp/processor): Yamaha RX-V2500
- Amp for Mains: B&K 200.2 S2 (225 wpc) - I really craved superb 2 channel music performance in addition to an enveloping movie experience
- Amps for center and surrounds: Audiosource Amp One/A, each in mono mode for 200 wpc
- TV: 1999 Sony 32" WEGA flat screen (not flat panel, just flat screen) - soon to be replaced by 42-45" HDTV LCD
- CD/DVD Players: Nothing to write home about, but DVD player does have DTS, which I love
- 14 gauge speaker wire from Lowes (I love a good-performing bargain)
- Acoustic Research RCA audio cables
- Other misc cables, and small add-ons

About $5,700 for the above items. Pleasure = priceless. It's sort of like the perfect wife...if ever gets too loud, I can just hit "mute".

Switching to 7.1 system and will change/add the following:

- Surround L/R: In-ceiling directional speakers (Speakercraft or Boston Acoustics)
- Surround Back L/R: 10 year old Boston Acoustics HD10 extremely large bookshelves (my rears will have to be on bookshelves and I think my dipole/bipole Polk FXi5's will not perform well recessed in bookshelves; plus i believe THX web page suggest direct radiating for rears....anyone have thoughts/opinions on this????
- Amps: Adding 2 more audiosource amps for the additional 2 surround channels
- Dedicated 20 amp circuit for amps and dedicated 15 amp circuit for all other components

I only revived it because he hadn't posted pictures, what up with that? I wouldn't have posted had it not been for that. I did find this thread via google though.

There is nothing wrong with reviving a thread for a purpose.
