I just got the Netflix version. I was wondering if no menu and lack of multi channel playback is normal. With any other BR that I have played my rec'r goes to DD or DTS but with this one it goes to Logic7 5 Channel Stereo or Music. I just switched it over to Stereo with a XO @ 80Hz and really enjoyed the first 22 minutes but gotta cut out now to do stuff.
Lucky you, I am still waiting for mine, probably on it way via Canada snail. They estimated delivery Jan 22 to Jan 28 so hopefully tomorrow.

If and when you get an HDMI receiver, make sure to re-rent this title.
Lucky you, I am still waiting for mine ...
This thing is so fantastic that I'm going to buy it. It's too late for me to play it at a reasonably loud volume right now so it's going to have to wait. I haven't heard any speakers worth ten times as much as mine for a few months so my speakers sound good again and listening to this this morning was just about as much as I could take. That's a great recording and like Meat said, the camera work is very cool.

I have listened to a fair bit of classical music recently and this is by far the most moving (for lack of better words). Maybe my ability to describe what I hear will improve once I get this book called Listening To Music read but for now I'm left with words like 'splendid'.

This place is keeping me from going off to make money and I'm being encouraged to spend while I'm here. I ordered it from Amazon for $30. Now that I have removed my SACD/DVD-A capabilities from my main system I needed some Blu-ray action to be able to show off with. You guys are a bad influence all the way around. :p

I know exactly what you are saying. Don't even get me started. But, I'll take the blame this time. :D

Thx to the OP for suggesting this disc. I just received it today and played a few selections....great vq and aq. I really like Seiji Ozawa (have a coupla of his Telarc discs) and Mutter's performance is definitely virtuostic.

Thx again.

I am still waiting for Canada snail. I hope it isn't held up at customs. This is the last time I order from Amazon.ca marketplace sellers. The $8 saving does not offset the long wait.

I keep telling you to move. :) I think New Hampshire has an open door policy to Canadians. ;)

Good news is that you will be very happy when you get it. We just had some friends over for dinner and a movie. In conversation I mentioned something about Anne-Sophie Mutter and was asked to play just her violining  but as soon as they started showing the concert hall, my friend's wife was hooked by the video subject matter. Then the music ... we had to tear them away from the BR to eat. Then they were right back to it.

Coffee and dessert meant tearing them away once again and my girl requested that we play the movie. She is not a fan of Beethoven. Now the other couple isn't a fan of classical either but they sure were diggin' this. My level of music and video appreciation isn't exactly what one would call refined but this is an impressive piece of recorded music and fine camera work. I probably said that in previous posts here but who cares? :p

Good morning Alex, I don't know what happened but I thought I did post after Miss Mutter (I mean the disc) finally snailed into the community snail box.

I watched it last night and suffice to say thank you again to Mr. Meat.

Silly question but am I the only one that seems to think the director is infatuated with the Asian's violinist's coif? :D

And that young fellow yawing in the audience was kinda funny.

That is all....

I agree, his hair does look strange. I'm sure you probably care more than he does. He's an artist. :p As for this violinist being a focal point in particular, well, he's the concertmaster for the performance.

I remember the yawn too. At least he wasn't snoring like an old man, because trust me, I've heard them while sitting in large concert halls.

I also remember hearing a cell phone going off, loudly, twice, and the ring was the E major Bach Partita for violin (prelude), and it belonged to a famous artist sitting in the audience.

I was just trying to lure Adam back to the forum by posting a video with a 13 year old girl
but it's cool knowing what the music is. :)

Hearing her her shpekenzee Doych and use the word 'voondabah' elicits some pretty strong S&M imagery for me
... oh ... you wanted a review from PENG ... 'scuuuuse me!

Even though she' a little long in the tooth ...

... what a grip! :D

Sure as long as you can pretend tomorrow is Sunday.:D

Honestly I have had a busy weekend and I tried sitting down to enjoy the show no fewer than 3 times but each time I had to cut short by interruptions. I am hoping this coming long weekend I will be able to watch it from beginning to end at least once without interruptions, and then I would try listening to the my SACD and give you some feedback.
