Help with speaker placement and maybe what to buy

Sorry, what I meant was the speaker is on the TV cabinet but is the space behind the TV/space under the stairs making it sound rubbish, reflecting the sound under there or whatever. I've put a pic of where it's sitting under the telly. As you can see I've also been trying other speakers for size.

Yeah the DTT2500 is good for my PC but they're just a bit small for the living room.

Wow, you make nice mock ups. I think your hunch is right, about the acoustics and that placement. Not sure what to offer, except the broken record....move the tv. Is that a Bose jewel cube on the mantle above the tower speaker?

Haha, thanks. Trying to convince the wife before so buy anything :)

Definitely considering moving the TV if I can work something out with the glass cabinet by the sofa so I can put the surrounds in a decent place.

Na, that's two of my little speakers stacked on top of each other. I can see why you asked that though :)

Haha, good point. I'll change my reply then to: I was trying to find the biggest speakers that would fit the space :)

That's more like it!!! If you end up rooming with the tv, it's not my fault. Lol

I had to give up home audio for the most part when my kids were young. If I was in that situation, in that room, I would build a stow-able system. Put wheels on the subwoofer and maybe some wireless options to bring the other speakers out when I was going to spend some real time in there.

I'd rather have a great sounding system part of the time, than a compromising one all of the time.

I did consider having speakers that I could move into place when I wanted but I doubt I'd actually bother.

I realised last night all the speakers I've been looking at are 4ohm. Is that going to be a problem with my amp which says 6 and 8ohm?
