Maybe you can find some pre-owned (Canadian made) - PSB - they are fine speakers, a touch expensive though

These are all really good guys! Can anyone else give an opinion on Dayton equipment referred to above?

And i may be wrong about this, but if the plan is to move my cheaper left and right speaker to one day be surrounds...the centre that I am left with, does it not have to correspond to a specific tower?

Im not just referring to brand, but the centre's "level" or "calibre" has a matched tower at the same "Level/calibre"? Im not sure if my question is clear there, i dont know the language you guys use for this.

Let me try again. If i buy a 300$ center, 600$ towers are its partner, a 1000$ tower, or 400$ tower aren't at the same level...is that right?

Simple. Most manufacturers offer a matching center for any given line of their speakers. That's called "timbre matching"

You buy your left/right mains of a certain line from a manufacturer. Then you buy the matching center from the same line from the same manufacturer.

Do it at the same time or very close since manufacturers change their lines periodically.

You can level match volume - however, you can not EQ timbre
From Blu-ray forum
http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p=4278584&postcount=3

If you do buy 3 bookshelf speakers for the front 3 channels, and
move them to surrounds later and do 7.1 - then all you will need
is 1 more for surrounds.

Dayton is budget friendly speakers - if you have a critical ear, then
they may disturb and distract you - however, check them out if you
so desire - however, return shipping to the USA would not be worth it.

No

Sound quality is not guaranteed based on price - there will be
some $600 speakers that will out-perform some $1000 ones

Hello, I'm not seeing any canadian distributors for the subs you guys mentioned(the ones linked above are sold out)...Is there any other reputable 12 inch subs that i can get in Canada? Keeping my budget in mind

Did you contact them to see when they would be back in stock?

Canada seems to be a tough place, to find a good sub on a budget.
Is there a way for you to check the used market?

You could get a bargain with a diy project. Creative Sound Solutions, the company who designed the CSS SDX12 you see in my sig, is based in Canada. You might contact them and see if they have any recommendations for your budget. You might also have a local car audio shop or cabinet maker build an enclosure for you if you (like me) are not to be trusted with power tools.

I'd rather not try a DIY sub to be honest. I just got a quote from hsu, it would be another 350$ for doing and taxes and duties on top of the 530$ sub...

Hsu seems to be the gold standard sub but does anyone vouch for another sub in my budget that's sold in canada?!

I can not speak for another sub at this time - Canada is a tough place
for speakers and subwoofers.

Check the used market for some decent Velodyne, JBL and PSB subs.
