Not to put you at odds with your SO, but why is real wood so important?? Personally, I find the use of a laminate veneer in an affordable speaker to be preferable if this allow the mfg. to then use higher quality drivers and cross-over components (or, put simply, if it sounds better).

For example, I find the laminates used on Paradigm Studio series speakers to be of very high quality - and they're likely to be more durable than the the paper thin "real veneer" that is found on most affordable wood covered speakers.

If you go with the CM7 make sure you have a good amp to go with them. They can be power hungry.

I agree 100% , that is so true and some very good points.

The CM series is nice-I think it's where the B&W line picks up and becomes worthy of the name.

I would second the Salks-or at least researching them and seeing if anyone nearby owns them so you can demo them at home. I came pretty close to trying them but was a little scared. I love my speakers, but still wish I would have tried the songtowers-at least heard them. A TL speaker intrigues me since several of our well respected members trumpet their values fairly often.
