HD DVD player for $98 at Wal-Mart?

I haven't seen this confirmed anywhere but Wal-Mart may be having a sale for tomorrow only ....

I did a search for Toshiba on Walmart's site and couldn't find if they carry it so I could check stock at my stores. But I was able to find the Acer laptop and the Sanyo 50" plasma:

I couldn't find the player on thier site today either, but I did see it there a couple days ago. I'm going to run up to Wal-Mart on my lunch break and confirm that they have it in stock so I can be ready for tommorrow, or see if I need to check with other local walmart stores.

I already have a laptop and 50" HD tv, I just want the HD-DVD player.... plus my 40 GB PS3 should be shipping out soon... so If I can get the HD-DVD player for cheap, I'll just sell my Oppo since both of those players will upconvert standard dvds, and I'll be in good shape regardless of which format wins the war.

Hopefully I can buy one today, and get the difference back tommorrow, or at least return it tommorrow, and have them give it right back to me so I can purchase it again. That way I don't have to worry about them being out of stock when I'm ready to go purchase it.

i have been giving this some thought. its either this or the A-3 on BF at sears. i hear the A-3 comes with 2 DVD's in the box so its a price difference of like 20 bucks for the newer model, that from what i hear is not much different then the A-2. but i like new things.... so i dunno.

I also noticed there's a 50" Sanyo plasma listed for a grand, but it doesn't list the model number. Is this a good TV?

if I buy it today, it won't be selling for $98.97, but at least I would have it in hand. Then tommorrow when it is on sale, ask them to refund me the difference. If they wont do that, I would just get a full refund then have them give me the player right back, and have them ring it up again and then it would ring up for $98.97.

Yeah, get one a regular price. Then get the price difference when it goes on sale the next day! Works every time.

Rationale: By the time it's $98 tomorrow, the supplies will be GONE!

The only time they give me a hard time is when the sale price is from another store (price match). If the sale is IN-STORE, they have NEVER given me any kind of fuss. The key word is IN-STORE, not ONLINE. They will NEVER price match even the Wal-Mart ONLINE.

I just called one of the Wal-Mart stores. They confirmed that tomorrow, they will be selling the Toshiba HD DVD players for $98!
However, TODAY it is still $298.

Definitely a good deal, but I think I'll wait for the $169, A3 next month. But then again, I could buy the A2 now, use it for a month, buy the A3, and then sell the A2. Decisions, decisions.
