This is a problem with the disk you burned. I have had the same problem with the one I created. Ended up giving up and am waiting for it to work in the automatic download.
so you just updated it through an ethernet connection then? how long did it take?

No. I have had no luck creating the disk. Went through 5 cd's and have given up.

To my knowledge it is not available for the update utility in the player. Everytime I try it is showing the 2.5 firmware.

For what ever reason I finally got the firmware to update via disc.
I used a Verbatim CD-R. This time I downloaded a trial version of Nero and used that rather than Roxio (which had helped me ruin a half dozen discs).
I'm not really sure whether it was Nero or just dumb luck.

Well, got my firmware disc from Toshi and still get a "...cant read disc/ dvd blah blah blah..."

Yes you read correctly. Update disc is from Toshiba. I'm going to call and follow up with results whether pos or neg. This is bull. Had I never heard about an update I would be fine due to no quirks with the a2. But, knowing there is an update I want it to be up to date. This stinks.

I recieved a bad update disc from Toshiba also. I called and was told their aware of the situation and would send me a new disc.
They were very nice about it. I think there tech support is excellent.

By the way, my A2 was and is working flawlessly with or without updates, thats one reason I'll wait for an update disc from Toshiba.

Had no trouble (mirror image settting) copying from the canadian site using nero software. I cannot remember where I read that you must download from Canada if you have a canadian player. Jeands8.

I too have updated by cd-r twice, both times using a Memorex CD-RW and burned with Nero. But now it's connected via ethernet, and hopefully will continue to receive updates even though HD-DVD may soon be a thing of the past.
