Having trouble connecting new receiver to old TV

Hi,

I just bought a Marantz Receiver 1402. I have connected a Blu Ray Player and set top box to the receiver via HDMI.

The problem is that I can't get a picture on my old Sony CRT TV. I can hear all the tv stations through the receiver so I know the HDMI cabling from the Blu Ray Player and the STB is working.

I have tried connecting receiver to the TV via composite video cable (the yellow one) from the video-out port on the receiver to the video-in port on the TV but no luck.

Any tips?

HDMI will not downconvert to lower quality connections on that receiver. The CRT will not display a high def image so you will just want to connect the composite connections from the Blu-ray player directly to the TV or connect the composite connections to the receiver and then composite out of the receiver to the TV. Once you upgrade your TV to HDMI then you will be able to take advantage of the high def picture quality and use only one connection from your sources to your receiver.
