I couldn't believe 'scene 4'....truly remarkable!!! I've enjoyed "Master and Commanders" scene 4 as a demo but this takes the cake!

What other movies have you guys seen that really display the potential and abilities of surround sound?

Hell yes. (belongs in the movies area...) That is definitely some great surround on the "bean" scene. It will give your sub a workout too.

Yes, it is superb. While I prefer Hero as a movie (House is kind of a chick flick) that scene is amazing. Hero does have a comparable scene, where the two women are fighting and the yellow leaves are swirling all around them. Crank it up, and it makes you feel like you are inside a tornado... with people fighting.

I agree, Hero was a better movie, but I liked HoFD too. Not exactly chick flick, but close. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon the Superbit has some good sound too.

I have seen Hero (Twice. Thought it was a great movie.) and HoFD (Didn't care for it as much). How does Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon compare. Worth the rent or the superbit buy (since they are only 9.99 at BB)?

Definitely Super Bit for Crouching Tiger. Especially at 9.99.

Thats probably my fave of the bunch. HOFD being a close second.

Yeah I rented HOFD because of the Polk audio newspaper I receive quarterly....Paul DiComo, Polk Audio Marketing Manager said, "All of ch. 4 through the 15:55 mark of ch. 5 is indeed one of the best surround sound demos I have ever heard!"

Of course, I had to go out and rent it right then and there to see if there was any truth to this claim....lol. :)

I did a little preview of HERO and it's pretty good. I watched scene where the two girls fight in the yellow trees. That's some nice stuff. I believe the expression "tornado" was used. I loved when the trees faded from yellow to red. I look foward to watching the entire movie.

"Echo Game" is what chapter 4 in HoFD is called. I don't know what's going on with Superbit releases, but I heard tell that there was a chinese DTS version of HoFD that would hopefully make it's way to the US as a Superbit, but with all of the SBs on $9.99 sale at BB for months, I'm curious if we will continue to see Superbit releases at all. I was hoping for a SB release of Hero also, which is why I didn't buy it (saw it in the theaters). I picked up HoFD for $10, and I couldn't pass that up just for that one scene.

I way have to pick that one up as well. HERO was well worth the 9.99 I paid. Especially since it's DTS.

The current US release of HoFD doesn't have a DTS track, but the DD is still quite good.

My vote would be for Hero.
CT,HD and HoFD were both great movies but the colors in Hero were just OUT OF THIS WORLD! The soundtrack and story were also top notch.

You also might want to check out Iron Monkey.

Iron Monkey was not quite at the same level as the others, but it was a fun movie. The cinematography and color in Hero were amazing. I'm glad I got to see that one on the big screen, though we were 2 of about 10 people in the theater.

sorry to change the subject, because this movie doesnt have that great of sound.. but if you liked those, you need to check out ong bak.
its a little more raw and violent, but the movie is amazing. Some parts might be a tad cheesy, but much better than hero.

i also own hero, house of flying dags and iron monkey, as well as 20 other fighting movies. Another good jet li movie is called fist of legend. again the sound is poor though. even worse than ong bak. but id have to say Ong Bak takes the cake for fighting scenes. No wires or stunt doubles either. simply the best fighting movie out in my opinion if you want raw action and talent. its not as artsy though.

definately check it out if youre looking for a non chick flick movie. It wasnt promoted that much in america.

Ong Bak is VERY cheezy, like low budget early Jakie Chan cheese. I've had that one for over a year. The fighting is excellent, but the rest of the movie is, well, bad. The chase scenes are very Jackie Chan-esque. There were DEFINITELY wires used in some of the scenes in Ong Bak, but far fewer than most and pretty well done. I liked Fist of Legend better. Sorry, but it isn't the same genre as Hero, which is basically a drama, while Ong Bak is an action movie, so I wouldn't compare the two. In terms of cinematography too, Hero is in another league comparatively.

If you haven't seen Unleashed, give this one a watch when it comes out too. There are a few good fight scenes in it as well, the first one in particular.
