Just wondering if anyone has had a chance to listen to an axiom EP 600 sub, i am thinking of ordering one but would like some feedback on it from you guys. I have read everything i can find to read and it has been said by some that it is the best sub they have ever listened to, serious comments considering all the subs out there. Any feedback welcome, thanks.

I have an EP-600. It is my 7th subwoofer and is overall the best of the subs that I have owned including the excellent Velodyne DD-18. Without knowing your room size, WAF issues and listening preferences, it is difficult to make specific recommendations. If you want the sub for HT and music the 600 is hard to beat. If you only want an HT sub, an SVS sub might give you better bang (or thud:D ) for the buck.

I would be interested in the sub for both Ht and music, about a 50/50 split, but i am looking for the best quality base that i can get for that price, plus i want it to be able to play loud, i already have the B&W ASW675 (see rest of my system in signiture) and i find the sub has an excellant deep tight base but just can't play loud enough when called upon. My room size is about 17' x 19' x 9' high and my choice of music varies from rock to country to dance etc. I would like to how much better it is than my B&W, what do you think since you already own the 600?

I just bought the Axiom M60 for my main speakers.
they are excellent speakers for the price.the build quality is quite good and they sound great.

I also picked up a new center channel from them.
the return policy is excellent.30 days,100% refund minus return shipping, shipping when ordering is free.

the return shipping for the 3 pcs would be apx $30 if i returned them but i will be keeping them.

now for a sub that size im sure shipping could easily be $100,im not sure.
they have a link on their website to calculate return shipping, give it a try.

Its a beautiful sub and although almost 4' high it takes up 1/2 the footprint of my SVs PB12/2 which is large.

I believe the PB12-ultra2 wil outperform the Axiom in every way. It is about $200 more than the Axiom, but worth every penny. I think the PB12-plus2 has a slight performance advantage as well, though not as much, and the cost is only 1199, for the basic black.

I have no idea how much better it is as I have not heard the B&W sub. I can tell you the EP-600 has the best over all bass I have heard from a sub. It is fast, accurate and goes low and loud.

I believe craigsub did some comparison listening and preferred the 600 to an Ultra.

Hopefully he will chime in.

Well that was a PB12-Ultra, not an Ultra/2, there is quite a difference between the 2. So if the one he listened to was not quite up to the Axiom, this one is certianly heads above it.

Can you descibe the difference in sound quality?

The Ultra/2 sounds cleaner and much more powerfull. It really diggs deep. I couldn't really tell much of a difference between the Plus/2 and Ultra/2, I thought they both sounded great. Had we been in a larger room, I'm sure the ultra would have stood out a lot more.

OK.

In fact, I think Craig has dual PB12-Ultras.

Have you heard the EP600?

The plus/2 and ultra/2 are totally different animals then.

No I have not heard the EP600. I am judging it on how it compares to other products I have heard, and my experience listening to their other products.

I believe, from what I have read, that dual PB12-Ultras are better than a single PB12-Ultra/2.

I think I am misunderstanding your post. You have NOT heard an EP600, but you are comparing it to other subs you have heard?

I am simply comparing others opinions of the Axiom, and SV units, comparing their conclusions with the ones I have reached and making a logical statement based on those facts. Also in the equation is my own listening experience with other axiom products.

Look, if most people think the axiom and the PB12-ultra are close competition, (axiom wins for upper band SQ and the SV seems to dig a little deeper) then by my knowledge of listening to the better performers (the PB12-plus2 and PB12-Ultra/2) I have come to the logical conclusion that the SV is better.

Why do you insist on trying to slam SV every chance you get, it is obvious what you are trying to setup here. Get off of it already.

I am not slamming anyone.

I could ask you the same question about always hyping SVS or slamming their competition, but I am not taking it that way.

Just wanted to know how you came to your subjective conclusion.

If you do not want your opinions questioned, then you shouldn't post them.

So judging by your post, you are saying a PB12-Plus2 is better than a PB12-Ultra in sound quality.

I don't hype SV products, I don't own them, nor will I. I have heard them all and I do respect their products, as I also respect HSU's offerings. Yes, in my opinion the PB12-Plus/2 is a better unit than the PB12-Ultra.

so mac you havent heard the ep500? i thought that was the whole reason you didnt believe the dbt by craigsub. i remember you saying you werent impressed with the ep500 especially compared to the ultra.

if anyone seems to be slamming, it seems like you try to slam axiom when compared to svs as often as possible. i respect svs, and might get the plus/2, but im not putting the ep500 out of my mind.. it is much smaller, and supposedly a great sub too. i think the plus/2 might sound better, but id pick the ep500 over the ultra, or plus. from what ive read anyway.

so what are/were your five other subs? the EP600 beats the DD-18?
