We have had 2 major blizzards in recent memory '67 and '79 since then the city government goes nuts on snow removal, the city spent 23 to 24 million on snow removal last year and so far this year its at 17 million and its not over yet.

Oh man, the store was packed. I went to one of those 'natural' places on the Eastside (read 'gayside') and I could feel the eyes upon me as I was checking a cucumber for firmness. :( I could hear them wondering which end it was going to go in. I get the one lone straight woman in the store talking to me about these home made pizzas you can make with these great organic ingredients from the store when her boyfriend strolls up.

He was cute. :D

The good thing is that due to the impending snow emergency, my hair dresser was able to squeeze me in for a 5:00 o'clock appointment which I'll go to right after I have a cup of the fresh ground freshly roasted Vienna something coffee I just picked up because of all the coffee talk that has been going on here due to Adam's nearly compulsive Amazon shopping spree.

Whew ... I'm outa breath. :)

It is NOT safe to drive near another person operating a motor vehicle in DC when it isn't snowing, now that it is snowing, all bets are off. It doesn't matter how competent you are, you are never in control of the situation while driving in DC.

Traffic around here gets crazy if it rains. Good thing this big storm came on a weekend. I'll be digging out all day tomorrow .

Trust me, I never even thought of going out today. I lit the fireplace at about 7:30 am and its been going ever since.

At 5:30 pm there is 18" and plenty more snow is falling. Its 23° and nearly completely dark. Anyone who goes out tonight is nuts, a teenager, or a snowplow driver.

Agreed. Northern VA is about the same at the moment. Some schools have already announced closures for both Monday and Tuesday. I'm sure more will follow.

Be Careful with your shovels....

I just want to remind you guys that the whole shoveling snow thing is very hard work so please, please pace yourself and try to get help from family members and or friends. I was out doing my ritual to clear the drive and walkways when I saw my neighbor go down like a ton of bricks, he took a ride to the E.R. I dont know whats up yet but it looked like a heart and breathing issue, the guy is only 50. If you feel any stress or pain forget about it (The Shoveling) and go back into your HT and turn up the heat, take care friends, sawz...:(

Barely got anything in Raleigh last night. I went for a walk around the neighborhood during the snow and there was maybe 1" cover, but it sure was cold.

I volunteer at a place in Mebane and they had about 5-6" of snow there. Driving there this morning wasn't bad because the snow plows had cleared all the major roads. Some pine trees had fallen over due to the ice accumulation on the braches.

Nothing yet here in central Mass but they say we will get a foot or a little more. I have the plow backed up to the garage and I am ready to go....:)

To remotely stay on topic let me say that there's a ton of snow out there.

Yes, I have a hair dresser. What do you guys out in NJ call it? A boyfriend? My g/f likes the way he cuts my hair so that's where I go and that's what he is so ...

BTW, that cucumber was hard as a rock. :D

Hee, hee! Excellent. :D

Back to the topic - still no snow here. I did feel compelled to wear a light jacket on the walk, though. :p

The Blizzard of 09 is finally done dumping snow. This is what I saw this morning as I laced up my boots to start shoveling.
The table on my deck is standard height - I guess about 30" high (higher than Alex's cucumber is long - I hope ).

Welcome to Audioholics.

:p

(I was going to post pictures yesterday of the snow "storm" that hit my neighborhood in January 2000, but I clearly didn't get around to it.)
