Cheapest of the three. It is an option, however, the next two look better.

I would spring for the Energy. They look pretty sweet for the price.

Athena LS go down to 30Hz, and handle twice the power of the Energy. Tough call. The drivers look the same to me.

Different specs here:

Same company, by-the-way.

The older Athena Audition line had a much better buld quality then the .2 series. I recall SHEEP mentioned that the new ls series will have the drivers of the Energy c series, now that would be a big improvement from the f1.2 or 2.2 IMO but they cost a little more:).

IMO the above mentioned Monitor Audio look much better and would sound as good.
As good. Are you kidding? Have you ever heard MA? I don't mean to step on any toes here, but MA is in a whole other league.

I personally haven't heard the MA or the ascend cbm 170's! I did say people and by that I meant forum members. Everybody speaks highly of them both here and on other forums. It was an opinion maybe wrong buy an opinion:eek: I also gave a link to the psb image which I consider to be in the same league as MA silver.:)

I know you like MA & B&W, hell I like them too:) but they are pricy for most and there are other good alternatives psb, energy and digm's come to mind. I guess you can tell I'm from Canada ehhhhhhhhh.:D

You did say IMO. That would mean in my opinion. Now, how is it your opinion? You havn't heard either. So, it's IOPO. That would mean, in other peoples opinion.

And, I don't mean to offend again, but I don't believe the Canadian brands compare. Even though this is an opinion, it is my own. I don't think it is a good idea to give an opion that you know nothing about. A recommendation is cool, but that differs from opinion.

I honestly believe that for the money, B&W and MA are worth every penny of the asking price. At some pricepoints I prefer MA. At others, I prefer B&W. At pricepoints below what they offer, the brands you mention come into play.

I have pointed people towards Mordaunt Short. I do state, and post links to reviews for the OP to get their information. I never state, or mean to state, IMO. I have never auditioned them.

I have also pointed people towards Onix and Ascend. There is just not much you can get that cheap. However, I don't recommend cheap speakers. IMO, they are the most important part of the system.

Ok I

apologize! I do like to read forums and use that infromation to sometimes offer advice, but mostly opinions! I've heard some speakers and usally recommend those. I do value others members thoughts & opinions so here is a link to a members first hand knowledge, read post 5!! http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?p=238877#post238877

Aren't speakers subjective? In my PM message to you I liked Energy but Psb and digms are in that class as well. I don't think I was blowing smoke.

Oh, by the way, thanks for the Robert Plant link.:)

Wonder why no one has said the Axiom M22tis yet. They were praised here on an Audioholics review and compared to the $1200 Paradigm Studio 40s

You got that info from the hi end bookshelf face off here on AH.:)
LOL, the digm's which are not as good in some peoples opinion scored higher then b&w and almost as high as the MA gold's & RBH with a better overall rating. Then again I'm from Canada, what do we know?;)

The previous system I recommended was the HSU Ventriloquist/STF-2: http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/performance2.html. Phr8, give us your room dimensions (L x W x H) for a better idea of your needs. A bookshelf type system with at least a 5.25” driver would be better. If you’re patient, you can piece a better system together over time. The first option may be simply to add a decent sub and let the Bose system handle the frequencies above it. Then as time & money allow, contiue to upgrade the system.
