Steely Dan's Two Against Nature has some very nice, tight bass.

I'm not sure if you are mostly talking tight bass playing, or tight bass tone, or some combination of the two, but here are a few that come to mind:

- I've always liked focusing in on Paul McCartney's bass lines, as I think he is pretty melodic, has a nice tone, etc. Even when it isn't too intricate of a part, it's always tasteful.

- John Entwistle's work on Who's Next

- Jack Bruce on any number of Cream songs. Bass played like a lead guitar, with one good example being the back-and-forth between him and Clapton on "Crossroads"

Anything off his album "Deeper". Good stuff. Make sure you sub can play down to 20Hz safely.

Track: Lullaby Artist: A Perfect Circle Album: Thirteenth Step

c'mon man, it's your avatar! :D

Track: The Great Escape Artist: BT Album: Emotional Technology Serious low stuff there; probably low 30s to mid 20s.

I like that track by Stabbing Westward. Nice bass.

Track: Backdoor Man Artist: Sarah McLachlan Album: Solace WOW is all I can say. Not sure what frequencies, but the first big bass note just pressurizes my whole room!! I was really surprised by this one. With lesser subs, you won't even know this is there. My previous sub, an HSU VTF-2 struggled with it in my farily large room.

About half of the album Reanimation by Linkin Park :D The DVD-A is pretty darn good.

Old thread I know, but the New Nelly Furtado Album "Loose" has some nice bass.

I recommend this to anyone looking for bassy music.

- Heart of the Sunrise
- Siberian Khatru
- Does it Really Happen?
these three are by Yes. Chris Squire's work in general is very good but these songs are a notch above IMO.

IMO, no particular order,

Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms. A great recording that is really clean so the
bass feels effortless as it warmly punches the inside of your
chest.
Portishead - Glory Box. Great contrast with a grainy guitar and vocals.
Trapazoid - Ellas Uncle Tom. One of the more unusual songs you will ever
come across that is almost hipnotic with the melody and bass
lines.
Prodigy - Mind Fields. Nothing great about this exept it dims my car
headlights a bit too easily when the bass hits.
Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood. Of course!

Steve Ray Vaughn - Texas Flood
- Cold Shot
- Life Without You
- The Sky is Crying. The production values on most of
SRV's music is exeptional. This is the music I take with
me when looking for speakers.:p
