. . . between the 242 and 244. . .
Well, I just ordered both! haha. off-white.
Bryan, I've researched acoustical cotton on a touch and go basis, and my last google search on it brought up some of your posts from a couple years ago or so.
I always thought that it was only available in bulk, but after calling, they are willing to even sell individually. I have a different issue I'm curious about.
I just got a new center speaker yesterday, that sits on the floor. I've decided to put it on top of a Real Trap HF mini trap laid out length-wise (to fit between two Mondotraps on the floor), to help reduce reflections from the floor. Visually it should work fine for all viewing positions most of the time. I am concerned with blockage of video when the film is 16:9,
if I want to recline. 16:9 is pretty rare, especially since I don't even receive TV programming.
So, to make a long story short, I'll cut to the chase:
Is acoustical cotton a dumb idea when having a 25 lb speaker sitting on it?
I was thinking of making a cross with two 2" 2x4 pieces, with the speaker sitting right in the middle.
After asking about how easily compressible the stuff is, the rep said "quite" (and he also said after 5 yrs on the job, I'm the very first to ask about such an application). I presume this negates the properties I'm looking for. Perhaps, I can place the stuff on the floor, but
around the speaker. I can hide the stuff under the rugs (zero traffic up front).
Hm. After all that typing, I think I might just leave it as is . . . but, still curious for your advice or thoughts.
