I'm away from home right now so i don't have pictures but it is sitting on the ground with nothing near it.

I would "assume" that it being on the ground with nothing on top of it or around it would be proper ventilation......

That is certainly a safe assumption unless you have deep pile carpet which will not let air into the bottom vents.
You should call or email Emotiva
They are pretty good about responding quickly, but there are mixed results on how good their CS is.
Seems like you have a good point about overheating, but for all I know, insufficient current may generate heat.
Something is wrong obviously.
