Found a CL ad for Ascend 5.0 set and HSU MK3. Thoughts?

I found a Craigslist ad posted last night for the following:

2x Ascend CMT 340 Mini Towers
1x Ascend CMT 340 Center
2x Ascend CBM 170 Bookshelf
1x HSU VTF-3 MK3 Subwoofer
2x Ascend TP 24 Stand
2x Ascend SP 30 Stand

For $500.. Offering to add a Denon 1909 Receiver for $100 more. Not sure I need the receiver though. Pending more details, what do you think?

That is an amazing deal. I'd hop on it immediately provided everything was in good working order. Sounds too good to be true, so make sure you check things out first

That's what I was thinking (too good to be true).. He had pics of the sub up and it appears to be in good condition, just dirty. I emailed him asking for more pics/details.

It doesn't list them as being the SE line. Wasn't the non-SE the previous models?

That would make a small difference if they are non-SE versions, but previous versions were still good speakers and still worth it just for the sub.

Time to see if I can cash in on a few Christmas presents early maybe he'll throw in the Denon... I'll have to decide what to do with my current 7.1 speakers.

that's a crazy deal. I just sold my Energy C-500's, CC-100, C-100's and PA-120 sub for $600 lol.

I figured you guys could find it if you looked lol. It's a pretty specific ad. The way the ad is typed up seems a bit sketchy to me, but I think I've got the funds together so DIBS!

I am considering getting the second receiver if he'll budge. I figure if nothing else maybe I can make some money back selling the 1909 with my Onkyo 7.1 speakers.. Assuming I don't find a place in another room to set it up

I'm getting really excited I was planning on getting myself new LCR's for Christmas (eyeing the new budget king Pioneers), but seeing as how this is only ~$200 more for an awesome 5.0 with a sweet sub, I have to at least try to pick it up!

He said the speakers are packed up for storage at the moment so hopefully he'll pull them out and snap some pics later today. Plus I'll have to have him hook them up before I buy of course.

Even if them are the older ascends and not the se's Its still a steal, did you already talk to him because it sounds like he wants $500 for the ascends and then add the sub and receiver, its a weird add for sure... good luck, start emailing him every hour on the hour, lol...

Yup, I told him I've got the cash and im available at any time. First thing I asked was if the $500 included all 5 speakers, 4 stands and the sub and he said yeah. He apparently moved from Alaska to my town and is staying in an apartment until his new house is built. Had them listed at $1k and didnt get any offers so he dropped to $500 to move them. He's getting rid of everything and buying new when the house is ready. Sold his 67" Samsung for $250 to a co worker..

That's what I was thinking.. I'm kinda pushing it with the $500 budget though so I'm gonna snag this deal and run before I find something else I have to have lol. He hasn't emailed me back since ~2:30 this afternoon so hopefully everything is good to go still.

Dude, that is a killer deal, what are you waiting for. You don't want someone else to snag that if you are looking for an inexpensive setup.

Can't pick them up until he tells me when/where lol.. Gettin nervous as he still hasnt emailed me back.. Yesterday he was emailing me back within an hour or two until ~230. Haven't heard since. Didn't get his phone number.. I don't want to pester him though
