FNG with a few questions.

Last weekend I finally got around to getting my 46 inch bravia wall mounted, and ran a 30 foot hdmi cable to the back room where I plan on locating all of my equipment.

I need to run a direct tv receiver, ps3, and a Wii to the tv, and plan on doing this through some sort of 5.1 surround sound receiver to try to tie everything together with one source. I know that I should be able to run the ps3 and direct receiver through the surround sound receiver with no problems, but is there any way to run the component outputs of the wii into the receiver so it will be run out through the hdmi out? I really don't want to try to have to find a 30 foot component cable for my wii. My other though was to try to mount the wii to the wall mount behind the tv, has anyone done anything like this? the only problem I see with this is getting it to work with the surround sound correctly.

My main question for yall is what kind of receiver and speakers should I look for? I would like to try to keep the budget fairly small, but I have no problem shopping around for deals and what not because this setup is at my home and Im at school right now, but the 1000 dollar tv and the 300 dollar ps3 kinda tapped me out budget wise.

I was also wondering if getting flush mount rear speakers would be a good idea? there is a suspended ceiling in the room so running wires and instillation of the actual speakers would be nice and easy.

Finally, once I have all this stuff set up, how the heck do I control it all? I know Im stuck using the ps3 controller for the blueray because there are not any blue tooth remotes (at least I couldn't find any, I might be wrong, haha) but what do I use for a remote for the rest of it?

Thanks for the help everyone, and any tips, comments, or links you can give me are very helpful!

What's FNG (F***ing New Guy)? I'm really just guessing here.

Edit: Just looked it up in urban dictionary, I guess I was correct in my assumption.

Welcome FNG! Yeah, I know what that means...

Quick questions on my part:
- What is your actual budget, cause that will matter.
- Describe the room: Size, ceiling height, floor type, etc.
- Do you have anything like a sub already?
- By flush mount speakers, do you mean in-wall speakers?
- for controlling it, will you be line-of-sight with the equipment or is it actually in another room? I want to make sure I fully understand.

Controlling it all is easy but not cheap if it's in another room. Then you need a universal remote that has RF - radio frequency so it can send signals through the wall. Or you will need a IR repeater to send the Infrared signal to the other room. I have no experience with IR repeaters so I can't tell you if they are cheaper or how well they work.

So that's a start at least to your questions...

All of the components will be in another room, but that room shares that wall with the room that the tv is in, so I think an IR repeater will be my best bet. I am looking to keep the budger for the receiver around 350 and the speakers (excluding sub) around 200.

the room is about 20 feet wide and 15 feet from the wall the tv is on to the back wall behind the couch. The walls are all 8 inch tounge and groove, and the room is carpeted, but it is a very low carpet (the opposite of shag, haha)

and I am refering to in wall speakers, but woudl it be posiable to put them in the suspended cealing?

$200 for speakers is a pretty tough budget for a room that size, although AC4L has that MS300 package for even less than before:

http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/MORDMS300SYMPL/MORDAUNT-SHORT/Ms300-5-Piece-Speaker-Package-Maple/1.html

They make a number of BT to IR adapters so that the PS3 can be controlled via any universal remote.

IR repeaters are more finicky than RF but implementing RF generally still means using an IR repeater at the gear. RF would be my choice because the remote works from anywhere.

Oofda- that's a lot of room for a small speaker budget. Have you looked at a used receiver or used speaker systems to stretch the budget?

I would not mount in-wall speakers in the suspended ceiling. It won't give you the directional sound you are looking for. Ceiling mounted will send the sound down, not at you. Doesn't mean you can't mount speakers on a wall close to the suspended ceiling and take advantage of the ceiling to run the wires.

Or you could go for a better 3.0 system to stretch the $ for better speakers in the front (L/R and Center). Then add rears later.

Ceiling mounted surrounds are fine since they are intended to be diffused sound and many have the ability to aim. You don't want your surrounds aimed directly at you anyway. I would not mount the front three that way though.

My main goal is to try to make the speakers as stealthy as possible, so thats why I was thinking flush mount rears in the ceiling.

But then I found this sony system (DAV-IS10) and I just love the speaker size, but the included receiver just dosent appear to have the inputs that I need.

would it be possible to get 5 of those speakers and run them off of a different receiver?

I have been looking more into the sony BDV-is1000, and it looks like it might do everything I need it to do, and it can be found for around 600 online right now too. The only thing I don't like is the wireless rear speakers. Would it be possible to run them in a wired configuration?

You'd have to take a look at them because it depends. If they come with nothing more than a wireless amp setup - you still have to run wires to the speakers from that amp but the amp is connected wirelessly, then yes you would be able to run them wired. If the speakers are simply wireless themselves with built in amplification, then maybe not. You don't *have* to use those speakers as your surrounds either though, you could go with some cheap in ceiling or other speakers that can be wired however you like.
