With his choice of music, he may need to stay clear of more revealing speaker designs that are double duty for HT. Especially considering the speakers mentioned that he favors. Those he mentioned he likes, are actually better for much of the music recorded in the 60's through 80's since much of it was engineered to sound good on those and a bunch of other mainstream sources. In this instance, the OP should really audition any speaker he tries. I'd look at something like Cerwin-Vega SL12 or 15.
