Finally got some pics of the setup...

I need to get some pics of my setup posted up... I'm just lazy I guess. I really need to pull everything out one day and clean up all the wiring, but it's such a hassle and a 2 person job with the size and weight of some of my stuff.

You should get some pics up. You have a lot of nice stuff and it's always cool to see how others have it setup. Wiring is a love/hate thing. It's overwhelming at first and takes for ever, but it's also nice once you have everything neatly bundled and arranged in a logical fashion. It usually takes a few revision to get it just right, but it certainly makes it easy to troubleshoot or add new stuff.

Thanks! I was just telling my wife that I posted up pics of the system, but everyone's really up on the pool! This is no joke... she looked at me and said, "See? You're the only who cares about this stuff." I almost fell out of my chair.

You and me my friend. It makes me chuckle.. 30K members 400K posts... but you and I are the only ones who care.

I heard this one a long time ago and got use it just recently. We were talking about what equipment to get and I was originally thinking of going higher and spending about 20K. She got all pissy and finally came back with: "There's no difference between a $20,000 stereo and a $2,000 one." I said to her, "You're probably right and I'm sure that works with most things. I'll have to remember that the next time I got to the jewelry store... that a $2,000 diamond necklace is the same as a $20,000 one."

Needless to say, I paid a hefty price for that one.

This is embarassing. I really am an audioholic like you all, but the first thing that I noticed in the pictures...was the cabinet with the glass work. Very eye catching. Also, the artwork on the wall is excellent. I sure wish that I had some stuff like that. Fantastic room, and as for the pool - I'm jealous like everyone else.

BTW, congrats on the system! I really do like the set-up. I'm just caught up in the whole package that you put together, system plus environment. I like my system, but my house needs some serious work.

I have now found that I don't talk about gear and NEVER do I say what I have paid for anything. She sometimes notices that there is a new disc player or something else looks different, but the remote is always the same and things work the same so it is not so bad.

In most cases she wants to watch her movies in the living room and not go to the theater. She says the couch is not as comfortable so for her comfort is more important than HD or sound quality.

I respect ppl with a great setup who gets every detail right to have the best possible sound but I respect even more those who are able to make a compromise with sound and achieve a well designed, good looking place like yours. I'm kinda like the WAF myself when it comes to decorating and placing audio stuff lol. I mean... what's the point of having a great sounding room that you can't even look at because it is ugly.

Geez..I blushing a bit. Thanks guys! My wife loves antiques... me not so much, so we try to find a comprimise of finding stuff we both like. Over the years, we've been collecting art glass. Once I decided to redo the room and wall in the glass door, that nook by the fireplace seemed like a great place to display the glass. Even though almost all of it is antique or at least vintage, the new cabinet is very modern in style and kinda leans the glasswork that way. We tried to make a more contemporary room, but still have it cozy, a theme that sorta fits with the sytem stuff, but still is livable.

We just bought that piece of artwork over the fireplace from an artist in Alaska of all places. We originally bought it when the new color of the room was a lot different (the current color is the redo after I just painted the whole room plus a lot of the area you can't see already the week before). Luckily it still goes okay with the dark olive green. We're still waiting for two large paintings for the couch wall, but I'm not 100% sure I want anything on the TV wall. We'll play that by ear. We have some leather couches coming that will really make the room look nice. We just got those couches about a year ago and can't stand them. They miserable to sit on, and the quality leaves much to be desired. Now that we're in this room all the time now (which was the whole reason to redo the room in the first place) we realize that was one of the first things that would have to go. It's a shame, because they weren't cheap. They look kinda nice, but that's about it. We'll donate them to the Hospice store like we do with a lot of our stuff.

Anyway, thanks so much for all the compliments, it's much appreciated.

That is a great setup you have there Chris. The pool is something I wish I had, but someday......I have a 10 year old girl and a 7 year old boy and I WISH I could keep my house that spotless.......Congrats....

Hey Phil, Thanks! I love the 94. I've alway been a seperates guy myself, (the Sunfire Amp is reminence of that), but I have to say if you want the best today for a reachable price, it's hard to beat one of the better receivers these days.

Each day I find something new tinker with on it. I'm still sorting out the inputs and doing some more fine tuning, but it works like a charm. The Home Media Gallery is just awsome. Almost every night we've been listing to internet radio and the neurowave HD surround thing... piped in over the internet. It took all of about 30 seconds to set it up and we able to listen to any of few hundred jazz stations from all over the world. It's impressive. I can't quite figure out how to get it to access to my computer files, but I haven't put a whole lot of thought into either. I'll probably try to figure that out tonight. I use own a Pioneer Elite DV09 DVD player which was a huge purchase for me way back when. I was like the Elite stuff and it kinda cool to have one of their higher end models. I'm big fan at this point.

Chris, it sounds like you have things in order. I wanted the Elite 94 but budget constraints took care of that idea. I have a Yamaha 663 and so far it is pretty good. Glad to see that you are very happy with your purchases.

I noticed the cabinet with the glass pieces as well. It adds a lot of character to the room. I wouldn't mind seeing some closer shots of the art glass. Here's a piece of Desna glass that I really like having.

That's a really nice piece... stunning actually. I'm not familiar with that work, but it's a very impressive piece. I just ordered a new camera today. As soon as I get it, I'll snap some pics of the artglass we have and forward them your way.

It sounds a kinda funny when I talk about it, but having nice glassware on display, whether it's nice dishes, glasses, or true art pieces like you have, really raises the level of the room. It adds a sophisticated, yet subtle air to the room that I like. We have four display cabinets throughout different parts of the house. One of my favorites which is something I started collecting and used for our wedding is our collection of Fenton Silvercrest. We have about 40 - 60 pieces. It's so simple yet elegant. It's given me something to look for when my wife drags me out antiquing with her.

I'll get some pics up when my new Panny digital camera arrives later this week.

Okay, it's been a long time coming, but those pictures gave me the final shove. I've been here eight years and haven't really done anything until yesterday. I got one wall in the kitchen done, mostly just to make sure that I'd like the color. Wow. Going from white to something with some warmth to it really makes a difference!

I know exactly what you're saying. We had our house built just over 4 year ago and the main room where the ht is now, the open kitchen area and the breakfast area all still had the original crappy white wash paint. I have to tell you that despite how ridiculous it was to paint area, it was so worth it. It's like new house and almost can't even remember what it looked like before.

Because the walls were never painted it took two coats of primer... a total of 7 gallons if you believe that! The I had to paint two more full coats of Benny Moore on the walls. The TV wall which is the new wall took 3 coats. Then I had to repaint another two coats over everything because we hated the color. It was like paintin the entire house. It was worth it. You'll love it once you're done.
