I see the 4" JW is back on center duty. What happened to the monstrosity?

It is, although I'm not loving the Oppo as a preamp. Half the time the center isn't on because of some weird sound routing issue. Otherwise it's just as good as I remember and works perfectly with the Phils. Although I need to work harder on getting the sub setup because right now I have the center crossed over to nothing.

The monstrosity is in my "office" which I'm free to pack with as much audio gear as I can fit.

I know I have to send you that parts list, I have not forgotten, but have been procrastinating. We have had the grandchildren here a good deal of the summer. We have also had a lot of weather related issues. It looks as if this week the weather might be settling down. We have now had 10 months of absolutely ridiculous weather, the last event a big storm two weeks ago, with trees down and the second power cut in a month. The generator failed to start reliably on test prior to the storm, so I had to fix the ignition in heat and humidity worse than the Brazilian jungle. Glad to say when the storm hit suddenly and severe and the power went out, the generator started in under five seconds.

Ah, no problem and no rush. Time with grandchildren is much more important. Hopefully the weather clears up and you can just enjoy the rest of the summer.

Now I see where you need another processor. When I sold my towers and rear surrounds the buyer kind of put claim on the processor. If he doesn't come through in a week or two it's yours.

BTW Dr. Mark I have listened to that 4" JW, that is some amazing sounding speaker. Never heard any speaker that size sounding that good.

The original design form 1959. I put a lot of blood sweat and tears into those and my father too, as the Mk I units had a life of about 20 minutes. Both of us could tell right away though that the sound was something special. The Mk 1s we bought failed right away, and went to work. I need to build some of my Mark III. Not many of those were produced, but I have the parts and I think the right jigs. It is amazing what gets forgotten. I use a MK II like that one at our place in Eagan. In that quad 4 Town home with shared walls, it makes pretty much the ideal center. It is totally coherent with highly intelligible speech at low volume, without changing any settings, like engaging dynamic volume.

That tells me the Phils are very good speakers. All my speakers as part of the evaluation are A/B tested against a pair of those drivers in TL enclosures. If the test speakers have significant tonal aberration from the JWs then they get a closer look and revision. They must be at least as good and preferable better in subtle ways. Two good modules properly loaded produce and very realistic sound stage. They sound like no other full ranger I have ever encountered. No shout or sibilance whatever, which is generally the calling card of full rangers.

It goes to show that good speakers will match seamlessly. As I always maintain, timbre matching is really making sure all the speakers are equally lousy.

Thanks SB lol diaperish eh? I'm a 33 waist wonder if that large or XL fit? I think to be safe I'll get the XL. Thanks for the tip to air dry.

Mine made it here. I got the XXL, and they are a little small. For example, I normally wear a 36 or 38 jeans, depending on the cut, so the XXL should have fit great at 37-38 that they advertised. I can wear them, but there isn't any extra room in them. I say move up at least 1 size from your normal size. Obviously the Chinese don't understand the English measurement system, and they underestimate the girth of Americans

Thanks for the heads up SB! I emailed them last week but never got a reply. I'll go for the XL then. I tell ya those TLSGuy speakers are Sibilance free, just a joy to have them and I thank my lucky stars I have them. They would be perfect for Dialogue only as well. Fuzz what else ya getting? You're not gonna have enough leg room in your new place.

They're a zone 2-ish system for the kitchen area. The GF loves to play music when she cooks or bakes and oddly enough whenever we have company, they congregate around the island and never actually go sit down so I thought I'd set up a little 2.0/2.1 system.

Funny thing is, I bought the SVS because I thought I had run out of speakers, but later discovered I still had the EMP E-41B's hiding in a closet. Ah-well, I'll find a use for them.
